I received a weird text message from oversea from long-time friend which said:

"sorry, that I am sending it but I can't ignore this... 700 days passed since John Paul II went to heaven. Send it to 8 people and in 8 days angels will send you a miracle. If you don't do it, there will be 8 days of bad luck. Honor him. I am not concernet about chain... only about memory of him.. send this forward to everyone on your list. don't back up."

So far thats the weirdest message I received from a friend overseas. Of course I did not pass it on and just ignored it and I think it is very ridiculous! Giving someone ultimatum is load of crap. Anyway who would like to be honored that way?
How would you react to a friend if you got this message?

It's just one of those chain letters, is all. People do it with other stuff too like "If you pass this on to ten people you're guaranteed to be blessed with a hundred dollars in the next ten days"

When I get those kinds of chain mail messages from people I know, I reply and tell them that I don't do those, can't stand them, consider them spam, and please don't send me any more of them.

Usually they don't, after that. And since it's a friend, I don't feel awkward or guilty about telling them exactly how I feel.

I have received such messages and I don't like them. I simply told them that I don't have time for that 'kind of stuff' and most of my friends don't either, so I would appreciate it if you wouldn't send them to me.
I'm amazed at my friends who say,"I aways feel guilty if I don''t send these on, but I hate them and don't believe in them." I tell them that this really isn't their problem. They have a choice of whether to accept guilt or not! They were the 'receiver' - not the sender. I told them to give the reply above, or simply send it back to the sender. The sender can see that you have done nothing with it. So now they have too.
Unfortunately, dear one, you can not be the Guardian of those you hold in high esteem. All you can do is show honor yourself. But God bless you for caring. I'm sure there will be a reward in Heaven for one that shows such intelligence and respect for God's chosen ones. Blessings

I get e-mails like that all the time from friends. Makes me wonder about them, but I just delete the messages and go on. I don't think they mean any harm, they just seem to think they need all the luck they can get.

It makes me wonder if they REALLY BELIEVE all the nonsense about miracles and 8 days of bad luck and believe that the rest of us are going to continue forwarding the junk. I just can't understand what motivates people to forward that stuff.

Either ignore it, or text back, asking them not to forward things to you that are considered chain letters like this. I get them all of the time in my e-mail, but I just delete them. Since I have to pay for my text messages, I just would ignore it.

I would just ignore it. If they mention it just let them know you don't appreciate those types of messages (especially if you don't have free text messaging!!) and to not send them again as you HATE chain letters like that.

It's not from a long-time friend, it's a scam to get you to register for some mobile/cellphone related services. By opening this message, you automatically sign up for these services and your telco charges you for those services which you don't even know you have signed up for.
Don't send it to anyone and inform your telco about it. Check your bills to see if you are being charged extra for something you didn't sign up for. It's a BIG scam!!

Last night I tried to tell my mom I love you in a response to a late night text (was asleep) and somehow sent her "I love hoho" :) I need to stop sleeping with my phone, my sleepy texts can be weirder than my drunken ones.
