Between Gen 1:1 and Gen 1:2

Some people teach that there is a "gap" in Genesis chapter 1 between the first and second verse. That God created the earth, and populated it with animals (including dinosaurs) and angels. He placed Lucifer as the steward of the planet.

But at some point after that, he rebelled against God, attempted to attack heaven, and was cast down to earth again. This destroyed most (or all) of the life on earth. That is why there are no dinosaurs today.

In verse 1, God creates the earth, by verse 2 it has become "void and without form" due to the rebellion of Lucifer. In verse 3 forward God re-creates the earth in "six days".

This allows for a much older earth, but a recent appearance of man (and the animals and plants that he lives with today). Again, the scripture gives no date for how long ago this re-creation happened.

As "proof" of this gap theory, they point to Genesis 1:27-30, where God tells man to go forth and replenish the earth. He could only "replenish" if it had been "plenished" once before.

But as there are only two references to Lucifer's rebellion (one in Ezekiel and one in Revelation) and neither gives a specific timeframe for the occurance, the time is "best guess".

Well, creationists will not give you a "scientific" time line for the battle of the throne because by the bible stories it is only just over 6,000 yrs old.
Scientificly speaking, if the earth is just over 6000 yrs old and by the bible accounts people lived more than 400 yrs, some. And the stories are based on those peoples ages as well as the time line of the creation, to the temple of Babylon, to Noah and the flood (which scientifically there was a flood and is documented in many other cultures all around the world, but the flood was longer than 40 days and the receding was not rapid but over a period of several years as well as the earth and fauna time lines suggests that it actually happened earlier than the bible suggests , so the biblical accounts are off by thousands of years because if we believe the time of Adam and Eve and also that people lived to 200 to 400 yrs old and the generations which they began and by that time there were thousands to millions of humans that had populated the earth prior to Abraham and Noah, then the time line suggests older than 10,000 yrs.
So by my estimates and biblical accounts - the fight for the throne of heaven happened at the dawn of creation of the earth or before God created the earth and then created it to house Lucifer for the care of the dead. Because prior to Jesus and at the time of Noah there is no discription of Hell as "the lake of fire" and no fear of it until Abrahams sons divided the beliefs of the one god - Islam and Judaism.

I don't believe the Bible is specific, but it must have been some time before God created the Earth in Genesis 1.

So the answer to your questions is that it doesn't matter how old the Earth is, as this event took place before God created the Earth.

If you believe that Lucifer attempted to overthrow God, then you must also believe in the Genesis 1 account of creation. Thus, the Earth was created later than this event.

Lucifer is the greed, hatred and ignorance inside of your heart and mind and God is the beneficence, love and wisdom inside of your heart and mind.

When you are tempted to do the wrong thing, when you are tempted to do something that harms yourself or harms another, that is when the battle for God's throne occurs.

As Jesus taught in his prayer: "Thy kingdom come and lead us not into temptation".

For example, your question is the work of Lucifer because your ignorance is looking in the wrong place for an answer.

The battle for God's throne is inside of you today rather than 10,000 years ago.

When you sin, Lucifer has already defeated you and defeated the God inside of you.

If you cannot find the place where Lucifer does his work, you will never be able to defeat that sneaky, evil one.

"I know you Evil One!, I know you Evil One!". That is the victory cry of the victorious.

John’s vision depicted a war in heaven in which Michael, led the armies of heaven in a war against the Dragon, Satan the Devil. The outcome of that war was the hurling of the Devil and his angels to the earth. This war immediately followed the ‘birth of the male child’ who was to rule the nations with a rod of iron. (Re 12:7-9) A loud voice in heaven then announced: “Now have come to pass the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ.” This brought relief and joy to the angels; but it presaged troubles, including wars, for the earth, as the declaration continued: “Woe for the earth and for the sea, because the Devil has come down to you, having great anger, knowing he has a short period of time.”—Re 12:10, 12.

As recorded at Luke 21:24, Jesus said: “Jerusalem will be trampled on by the nations, until the appointed times of the nations [“the times of the Gentiles,” King James Version] are fulfilled.” Jerusalem had been the capital city of the Jewish nation—the seat of rulership of the line of kings from the house of King David. (Psalm 48:1, 2)How and when, though, did God’s rulership begin to be “trampled on by the nations”? This happened in 607 B.C.E. when Jerusalem was conquered by the Babylonians.Would this ‘trampling’ go on forever? No, for the prophecy of Ezekiel said regarding Jerusalem’s last king, Zedekiah: “Remove the turban, and lift off the crown. . . . It will certainly become no one’s until he comes who has the legal right, and I must give it to him.” (Ezekiel 21:26, 27) The one who has “the legal right” to the Davidic crown is Christ Jesus. (Luke 1:32, 33) So the ‘trampling’ would end when Jesus became King. When would that grand event occur? Jesus showed that the Gentiles would rule for a fixed period of time. The account in Daniel chapter 4 holds the key to knowing how long that period would last. It relates a prophetic dream experienced by King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon. He saw an immense tree that was chopped down. Its stump could not grow because it was banded with iron and copper. An angel declared: “Let seven times pass over it.”—Daniel 4:10-16.In the Bible, trees are sometimes used to represent rulership. (Ezekiel 17:22-24; 31:2-5) So the chopping down of the symbolic tree represents how God’s rulership, as expressed through the kings at Jerusalem, would be interrupted. However, the vision served notice that this ‘trampling of Jerusalem’ would be temporary—a period of “seven times.” How long a period is that?

Revelation 12:6, 14 indicates that three and a half times equal “a thousand two hundred and sixty days.” “Seven times” would therefore last twice as long, or 2,520 days. But the Gentile nations did not stop ‘trampling’ on God’s rulership a mere 2,520 days after Jerusalem’s fall. Evidently, then, this prophecy covers a much longer period of time. On the basis of Numbers 14:34 and Ezekiel 4:6, which speak of “a day for a year,” the “seven times” would cover 2,520 years.

The 2,520 years began in October 607 B.C.E., when Jerusalem fell to the Babylonians and the Davidic king was taken off his throne. The period ended in October 1914. At that time, “the appointed times of the nations” ended, and Jesus Christ was installed as God’s heavenly King.—Psalm 2:1-6; Daniel 7:13, 14.

It would have had to occur very early in time (before the birth of any of Adam and Eve's descendants), possibly even before the creation of the earth, but if you want a scientific date, the earth was never created, it just happened, so I don't know. I believe Satan was behind the deception of the serpent in the Garden of Eden, and therefore it had to occur before the Fall of Man.

It is just another silly story. It was probably meant to be allegorical but of course it never really happened.
