Sometimes when I wake up I feel a weird pain in the middle of my spine for a few seconds and then my whole body will jerk.

Another time I woke up and it felt like was falling and hit against the bed. It actually knocked the wind out of me for a while.

Does anyone know if they are related?

What causes this to happen?

This is either a hypnogogic dream effect, which is a very common and benign type of disordered sleep whereby a person is kind of in a twilight state where they can have experiences like you describe, before completely wakin up or it could be an epileptogenic phenomenon. Epileptic seizures, which can take the form of what you have described, commonly occur during sleep or when waking.

You might want to talk to a doc about this.

from sleeping position, and maybe dreaming transferring to real life feelings?
some times my dreams are really realistic, and I won't know i'll know that they are not real.. but maybe my arm will hurt or something if i injured it in the dream. and often times i get deja vu from my dreams to stuff that happens after the dream in the next few days.
