Dragstrips are a joke to me. They're only a quarter mile.
You will NEVER get your vehicle to max out at that distance and all you do is just drive in a straight line. I know there's probably no street where I can max out that Camaro Z28, so if I have to settle for a race track, where can I do this?
How much do they charge?

I just don't think it's fair that I have to settle for a race track or some stupid "dragstrip" and PAY if I just wanna speed my
8-cylinder to its top speed.

There are oval tracks that let a car go far enough to get up to max speed. They are used for Nascar, Daytona, etc., races., but you may be able to use one when there is not a race.

Airport runways may be an option. They vary in length. A commercial airport will not let a private car onto the runway, but a small private airport that has only a few flights per day and looser security might allow you.

Several vehicle manufacturers have test tracks for their vehicles, for example, the General Motors proving grounds. Consumer Reports and some car magazines also have test tracks.

there is not any fastened relationship between ideal velocity and ET (elapsed time) in a a million/4 mile, because of the acceleration element. you ought to do an exceptionally sluggish start up, then improve up like a maniac and finally end up doing 250 MPH on the traps, or you ought to straight away improve as much as ideal velocity and end your 13 2d a million/4 mile at sixty 5 MPH. the certainty is someplace in between.

Any reputable auto performance shop that has a dyno machine can run a test for you. It will show your acceleration and top speed, it will even print you out a little sheet of paper so you can show to your friends and brag. The whole upside of this is, you won't kill anyone trying to show off.....
