Who do you use? What do you pay? Do you think it is fair? Do you have full coverage? And what State are you in? Accidents or traffic voilations?

I live in Delaware and I have full coverage with Geico. I am paying $250 a month and it is killing me! I have had no accidents, and I am 26 years old. I have however gotten quite a few traffic voilations, mostly for speeding. I have a need for speed. I have really been trying to do better.

Thanks!

Try Allstate, they do not surcharge for minor violations (speeding tickets) at all in the state I live (TX).

Without having rated your policy, I'd say that tickets on your record are probably a significant part of the premium you are paying. There is a mathematical correlation between moving violations and accidents which you are no doubt paying for.

There are two primary ways you can lower your auto insurance premiums besides staying out of accidents. They are:

1. Have a clear Motor Vehicle Record. This typically means no moving violations for 3 straight years. Some states go longer but 3 years is about the national average.

2. Live further away from cities. Since more cars are in cities, there are naturally more accidents there as well. Living in the suburbs can usually lower your premiums because there statistically are less opportunities for accidents.

Rates are based mostly on your driving record as an individual and how much the insurance company has had to pay in claims in a particular area. A person with many tickets living in an urban area is considered the highest risk type of driver to an insurance company.

We live in WA State. We have USAA for Car insurance. I think all of my husband's tickets are off. But we do have one accident on it. We have full coverage on our mini-van and basic coverage on our older car. That, along with our renter's insurance, we pay $85/month. He's 35, I'm 29.

I honestly think Geico is meant for people who can't get insurance locally because of DUI's and what not...I have ins. through Farm Bureau and we pay about 120.00 a month or so for 2 vehicles. We are in Montana, very small community so that makes a huge difference.

Girl!!! Slow it down! That's why you pay so much. I also use to speed too much and I have Geico insurance...I pay $220 a month. I'm a bit older than you though. Chill out honey, it's not worth the money and it's certainly not worth your life to drive too fast.

I live in Florida, have full coverage on two vehicles, with two drivers. We pay $2400/year. Your rates are as high as they are due to your violations. You could try going to progressive and getting the multiple quotes it will find, but the violations are going to kill you. Perhaps a class to reduce points on your license would help? And maybe a radar detector?

Your tickets will follow you for 3-5 years. Your rate with any company is going to based on your record.
