I had leg surgery and am in a wheelchair.
Making dinner last night was a disaster!
Any ideas?
Would appreciate your help!

You can make items that can go into the oven, as that is more easily accessable to someone in a wheelchair. You can make dinner rolls, you can bake caserolles, you can even make some breaded chicken. I actually found a great recipe for chicken cutlet that required no frying.

I know it was in a magazine and on the back of the hellman's jar actually, you take i think a quarter of a cup of mayo and mix it with i think 2 tablespoons of parmasean cheese.

Spread that on the uncooked chicken. Then bread the chicken regularly in breadcrumbs, then bake!

It was so tasty, and you don't taste the mayo, that was my biggest concern. My family loved it ;)

Sorry, i cant be more helpful , i have never really had much experience in that sort of situation . good luck1

Do you have a friend, neighbor, or relative who could come over and move things out of the cabinets and onto the counter? And move things from the to shelf of the fridge to a lower one? And hel get everything in order? When I was down after surgery I lived off anything that could be microwaved. Give yourself some rest and just go with conveniece stuff for a little while. You'll be back on your feet in no time!

I think I'd try making casseroles that can be easily put together and then popped into the oven since you can't stand at the stove. Maybe something like a chicken and rice dish that cooks the rice in the casserole. Or how about enchiladas or a lasagna?

Well, really you shouldn't be doing anything but resting yourself. Don't you have anyone to help?? If not, try some spaghetti in meat sauce, instant mashed potato, pre-cut vegetable that can be steamed and baked chicken, some rice (any kind) corn on the cob and broiled steak. SOme ideas that can easily be done without stressing yourself out. Get well!!

You could do spaghetti in the microwave, its easy to boil noodles in the microwave and then just heat up the sauce. You could also do Ramen noodles, t.v. dinners, pizza in the oven, and of course Take out!!! that is if you can get to the door. good luck!

Make what my friend makes while sitting down in the kitchen.
Reservations!!
Don't beat yourself up trying to fix dinner. Enjoy having someone else fix it for you. And they even do the dishes.

ok, here is what you do

get out the credit card, call a restaurant

say what food you want

if you explain nicely that you have broken your leg and can't cook and could someone please bring the food to your door, of maybe even to your living room chair if the stairs are tough, and you pay them $12 to $20, depending on the food

they might really bring it there to you

my parents don't seem to understand that, its a generational thing perhaps
