Big thumbs up to the comments Linedancer and grnlow made!
One previous answerer refered to Luke 10:7 in which he suggested that "Christ's command regarding when one goes out preaching that they were not to go from house to house." If one reads the follow-up to this scripture, they will clearly see that this was not Jesus' general instructions and the meaning used here was taken out of context.
On the other hand such ‘SEARCHING OUT’ (as the scripture quotes below) would reasonably include going to the people’s homes:
"Into whatever city or village YOU enter, SEARCH OUT who in it is deserving, and stay there until YOU leave. When YOU are entering into the house, greet the household; and if the house is deserving, let the peace YOU wish it come upon it; but if it is not deserving, let the peace from YOU return upon YOU. Wherever anyone does not take YOU in or listen to YOUR words, on going out of that house or that city shake the dust off YOUR feet." (Mt. 10:11-14)
Jesus clearly commanded his followers to preach from home to home:
"And so (Jesus) sent them forth to preach the kingdom of God and to heal, and he said to them..."wherever YOU enter into a home, STAY THERE AND LEAVE FROM THERE...Then starting out they went through the territory from village to village, declaring the good news and performing cures everywhere." (Luke 9:2-6)

The JW are the only ones who bypass from door to door and who've an significant message. "yet there are new heavens and a sparkling earth that we are observing for in accordance to his promise, and in those righteousness is to stay." -- 2 Peter 3:13 many human beings don't comprehend why we knock on doors because of the fact they don't be attentive to the Scriptures. inspite of the reality that some human beings study the Bible they don't be attentive to it. "whilst i did no longer carry back from telling YOU any of the flaws that have been rewarding nor from coaching YOU publicly and from residing house to residing house. " -- Acts 20:20 "bypass consequently and make disciples of human beings of each and every of the countries, baptizing them in the call of the daddy and of the Son and of the holy spirit." -- Matthew 28:19 "yet he reported to them: “additionally to different cities i might desire to declare the solid information of the dominion of God, because of the fact for this i grew to become into despatched forth."" -- Luke 4:40 3 "and every day in the temple and from residing house to residing house they persevered without letup coaching and putting forward the solid information with regard to the Christ, Jesus." -- Acts 5:40 two i'm satisfied that I relatively have got here across the reality. because of the fact of that my existence is plenty greater advantageous and it has experience. i will in no way supply as much as Jehovah, our superb God. "I relatively have fought the effective combat, I relatively have run the path to the end, I relatively have observed the religion." -- 2 Thimothy 4:7

Amos 3:7,8 says:
'For the Sovereign Lord Jehovah
will not do a thing unless
He has revealed His confidental matter
to His servants the prophets.
There is a lion that roared!
Who will not be afraid?
The Sovereign Lord Jehovah himself has spoken!
Who will not prophesy?'
This Kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth
And then the end will come.
So, who really does have Jehovah's
holy spirit bringing them along?
Would it not be the small group arould the globe,
prophesying, that is;
Unitedly, and Publicly
speaking of God's will,
God's Kingdom to come.
Proclaiming the name of the true God Jehovah.

The reason why we do knock on your doors is because we have a life-saving preaching work to do as commissioned by Christ Jesus, which he commissioned to all those who claimed to love and follow him. Yet -- just like the questioner asked -- why do only Jehovah's Witnesses preach?
Matthew 7:21-23 - "“Not everyone saying to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter into the kingdom of the heavens, but the one doing the will of my Father who is in the heavens will. 22 Many will say to me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and expel demons in your name, and perform many powerful works in your name?’ 23 And yet then I will confess to them: I never knew YOU! Get away from me, YOU workers of lawlessness."
Not everyone claiming that will be accepted, as Christendom proves today.

Only the Mormon males do it for two years then stop.
All JWs are ministers for life. We knock on doors as that is how Jesus told us to reach everyone. Refuse to do it means you are not a true follower of Christ. James 1:22 urges true Christians to "become doers of the word, not hearers only." do not "publicly say they know God but disown Him by their works." (Titus 1:16)
So when Christ commands us to "preach the good news of the Kingdom to all the inhabited earth, for a witness". Notice he did not say everyone or even the majority would listen. They only had to hear it was available and what it was. That is all. Then they will have chosen their own path.
Jehovah is a fair God. As in Noah's day, they only had to know the ark was available, not required attendance. Of course when the flood came, these people who just laughed for the 120 years Noah preached got very soggy.

It is ironic that people accuse JW's of being a cult when they are the very ones who turn their backs on Jesus' last command to "go and make disciples." (Matt. 28:19) They prefer to go to church and sit on their hands while paying a clergyman to do the preaching for them.
If these people claim to be true Christians, why do they say such hateful things about us instead of trying to help us? It's because the god of this system has blinded them into thinking that they can be Christians without following Jesus completely. Instead of training their members to be preachers and teachers of the good news, clergymen encourage their flocks to look down on Jehovah's Witnesses and accuse us of "salvation by works." To be a "Sunday only" Christian involves NO effort. Most churchgoers like that.
Some say that the trinity is fundamental to Christianity. Is it? According to the trinity, God is made up of 3 co-equal, co-eternal persons. Is that what Jesus taught? No. At John 17:3, he said that only ONE person made up God--his Father. 1 Cor. 8:6 confirmed Jesus' words. It says: "There is actually to us one God the Father, out of whom all things are, and we for him." So, if God is only ONE person, then he cannot be a trinity, which means "unity by THREE."

Good question. Honestly, I think some simply follow the addage misery loves company. "I haven't found happiness, so why should you" Others, feel my beliefs aren't right, even though they don't feel theirs are either, so they just go down the line criticizing most everything.

Me too! Occasionally I will meet someone in the course of my door to door ministry, who wants to share what he or she strongly believes to be true with me, without listening to what I came to speak to them about. They seem offended that I won't listen to them. I tell them that I would be more than happy to listen to what they had to say if they came to my door and No I will not give you my address. I went to many doors before I came to yours. I'd prefer that you put forth the same effort to find me. But of course, their belief isn't THAT strong.

Generally speaking, people find door-to-door missionaries as overly intrusive, rude, or desperate. 99% of religious groups wouldn't do it, but Jehovah's Witnesses believe that in a lifetime spent preaching, one convert is worth all the effort and irritations associated with it.
