I have sold something on ebay. The person has made the payment. I see that on my paypal account the status shows "Unclaimed". I want to "Accept" it, but when I try to do that, I am directed to a screen that asks me to Upgrade. Do I have to? Help! REALLY NEED IT!

What If I don't want to upgrade? What will happen to the credit Card Payment if it remains unclaimed? Does anyone (me or the buyer) gets charged?

Funny thing.. The buyer wants to cancel the transaction and pay with ANOTHER credit card. Can I cancel w/o receiving the funds?

Credit card payments require an upgraded account with PayPal.

Ask the buyer to transfer the cash to paypal, then pay that way so you don't have to upgrade. If they won't do it, then end the transaction.

Personal accounts cannot receive credit/debit card transactions. In order to receive the payment you must upgrade. A fee will be taken out of the transaction automatically. Normally it is 2.9% + $.30. If you deny the payment it will refund the buyer. If you are continously selling on ebay you will need to upgrade your account since 72% of paypal users send credit/debit transactions.

This happened to me and I email them to let them know I don't do credit cards, only from their checking account. So you can either accept a check or money order from them, Upgrade, or explain to them that their paypal account isn't set up thru their checking account, and you cannot accept the payment. NOW despite this all being clearly stated in my How to Pay Description....they still get it wrong......

That means they probably paid with a credit card. You have to be an upgraded member of paypal to accept those types of payments.

All I want to tell you is be careful. People can hack into Paypal and I had a friend have $1800 stolen from her acct b/c they found her banking information and stole all she had. AND Paypal never notified her, she learned the hardway...payments for bills being rejected.

as I recall an upgrade only verifies your email address and banking account information at no cost to you.
