If less powerful, then isn't God's father more powerful than he?

Dumb: Care to explain why it's dumb? Mormons think you can become a god after death. It's a completely reasonable question to ask.

Umm.. another question baiting us, but hey.. I'll answer.

Here is what Apostle Boyd K. Packer has to say on this issue. He is in a higher position in the church then I am, so he would probably know more in depth then I would: The Father is the one true God. This thing is certain: no one will ever ascend above Him; no one will ever replace Him. Nor will anything ever change the relationship that we, His literal offspring, have with Him. He is Eloheim, the Father. He is God. Of Him there is only one. We revere our Father and our God; we worship Him.

There is only one Christ, one Redeemer. We accept the divinity of the Only Begotten Son of God in the flesh. We accept the promise that we may become joint heirs with Him.

(Boyd K. Packer, "The Pattern of Our Parentage," Ensign, Nov. 1984, p. 69.)

The concept of being joint heirs with Christ isn't a new one (John 17:20-23). This was Christ saying His intercessory prayer. If Christ thinks we can become joint heirs with Him, then why couldn't we become like that? Paul said that Christians can become "joint heirs with Christ" and be glorified with Him (Romans 8:14-18).Peter said that through Christ, we can "put on the divine nature" and receive great and precious promises (2 Peter 1:3-4). Those who follow Christ can become "like Him" (1 John 3:2), can "inherit all things" (Rev. 21:7), and can be kings and priests before God (Rev. 1:6), sitting with Christ in His throne (Rev. 3:21). Do you want more scriptures to back that up, or is that enough?

Mormons do not believe that you become a God after you die, I don't know where you heard this, but your source was misinformed or you have misunderstood. Mormons believe that God is the father, Jesus is the son, and the holy spirit is from them. They believe God is the almighty and you are given the opportunity to be with them if you follow the 10 commandments and do what you're told, etc. etc. in life before you pass away. I am not a mormon, but I was raised LDS until I was about 13. I never heard anything about this, and believe me my mother practically shoved the book down my throat.

I know of no doctrine that gives a definate answer. Personally I believe we will be LIKE God since that is why we are here. I believe he will still be the supreme God.
And as to God's father, we as LDS do not know or talk about it. I've never even heard of God's father until I met Anti-mormons. I think it's one of their many made-up misconceptions about us. I've often WONDERED, as a little curious girl, but I've always been told it's just one of those questions we can add to our list for when we die.

The doctrine of eternal progression states that He continues to grow in power and glory just as we do. Just as we take satisfaction in the achievements of our children, so also does God receive satisfaction and glory in the exaltation of His children, us. So even as we become like He is, He will continue to grow and be above us.
Does this mean that the Father and God that He grew up with is still above Him? Yes, and the one above that and so forth. This plan is truly eternal.

power of God equals priesthood. unless you are talking about a different kind of priesthood. you may want to say "keys". Or just have the missionaries come teach you all the wonderful truths.
