As amazingly successful as Jeff has been in his career, it has been much shorter than Dale Sr.'s. I think because Dale had such an influence on many of the drivers today (including Jeff whom he mentored by the way), that is why he was so mourned by many in NASCAR. Now if you were to ask the same question in another 10-15 years, I would say that NASCAR and it's fans would indeed mourn the loss of another amazing driver and huge influence on the sport.

All of the above. I listend to the Gordon haters and I think they would be upset because they have said some mean things. Ofcourse most if not all people really have respect for what he has accomplished. Now I am not a Gordon fan but certainly would not like anything bad to happen to him. He is in fact "the Dominator" as Sr was "the intimidator".

I can tell you this.. when Sr. died, I wasn't a fan of his. I was talking smack that race about him.. always did! But I cried my eyes out the minute I found out.. for both reasons.. I appreciated his driving.. it was a horrible loss.. and I hated that I said those things too. That part is all in fun tho. I didn't know much about Sr. but when I talk to people that did, he sounds like he was a really great guy.
So when I think about Jeff Gordon, being a fan of his and knowing the great things that he does... (not only racing).. and to think of losing him would be so horrible. Not only has he done wonderful things in this sport, but he's a really great person and does wonderful things for other people.. and the people that aren't just jealous or being retarded, actually know that and can appreciate those things, I think would be upset about "losing" him, even if they aren't a fan.

I hope and pray that nothing happens to Mr Gordon but to me it would not matter which driver it is it would be a sad day in nascar. A loss of any ones life is sad. I am not a fan of Gordon but it should not matter if you are a fan or not it is a person and it can be heartbreacking.

To lose any sportsfigure would be a loss for all sports, fans or not.So yes a true sports fan would acknowledge the talent ,and it would not matter if they are a fan or not.
Some non fans would regret things said and would openly admit it.
And then other people would make it the but of jokes.

There would be ton of tears, atleast for me...please don't wish this on anyone, I was in Daytona in 2001, I have never heard a race track get so quite. I appreciate talent and Jeff Gordon does have talent.. Hopefully with all the great safety devices that we have now, we will never loose another great driver like in 2001..Face it we all would miss the #24 & the whinning. Nascar would never be the same..

the best recent ever. I purely back from holiday and the race exchange into the 1st element I watched once I have been given living house. With Gordon being my renowned motive force it exchange into the best recent ever for me pondering it exchange into making use of me insane not with the ability to observe the race at Martinsville and the commencing up of Texas. Congrats Jeff. To undesirable that his spouse and daughter ought to not be with him in Victory Lane regardless of the shown fact that. that's is the 1st of many wins for Jeff Gordon and a championship opposition yet back!!

Many people who weren't Dale Sr. fans mourned his death, I was one of them.
I think the answer would be [A]. It would also be [C], because of what Jeff Gordon has meant to the sport. Whether you love him or hate him, his presence has made an impact on the sport that is like that of no other driver.

Jeffy is a talented driver. Even though I am not one of his fans, we that are not admire his talent. I'd say no. To many drivers are ready to step up.
Same deal as when Tim Richmond died. He was perhaps the most talented driver of all. I'm not saying that-the Petty's and Johnson's and Allison's and Pearson's said that.
