I am over fifty. The news has been doing a good job of making it sound like the end of the world is happening for a long time now. All of my life actually.

According to what I believe, we have a ways to go. WE not only have the Great Tribulation to go through ( 7 years ) , but we then have the Millennium to go through ( 1000 years) . Then after that, there is a time when Satan is let out of his prison and convinces a people to come once again to Jerusalem to kill Jesus. They fail of course, but no one seems to know how long that will take.

So we have a while to go. If you are referring to the Mayan prophesies, ( or is it Aztec? I don't remember) I understand that they were only referring to a change, not an end to the Earth, that's according to the show that I saw on Discovery where those who studied those civilizations told us what they found out.

So if 2012 has something to do with the great changes that the Great Tribulation will bring - God's Wrath poured out on the Earth, then I suppose there is some mystery there to uncover.

Murders, viruses, and wars have been going on for a pretty damn long time. The only difference is that now we have the ability to increase the payoff beyond anything our ancestors could have imagined. Yet, we lack the ability to "end the world": all we can do is wipe out human life upon it.

First of all stop listening to local news...they hype everything up so they can dramatize the story...They have been saying all along that the world is coming to an end...don't live your life afraid because that is not much of a life...you could die tomorrow why worry about the end of time...

No one knows when the world will end. Only God does. If you want more info, read the whole book of Revelation. It should answer everything. It may sound confusing at first but you'll totally understand more.

Folks were saying the same thing in the year 999 CE just before the millenium.
It's going to take a lot more than imaginary forces to destroy a real world.

the world is a lot more stable now than it used to be.

remember back when women could get turned into pillars of salt just by looking back at god destroying cities?

or when virgins could have kids?

or when floods killed everyone but four people and two of each animal (thank god moses didn't grab an impotent giraffe like he must have with the unicorn)

or when serpants could speak our language? and they used this intelligence to peddle us bad fruit?

you don't hear anything like that in the news anymore. i think we're stable.

Nah, we have about 5 billion years yet before the Sun swells and eats up the Earth. Of course that's barring a major asteroid collision between now and then.
