Whether or not you want to admit it, religion brainwashes people. Just like military bootcamp. You have to do everything you are told, and they turn you into a soldier with a soldier mentality. With religion, you are made to believe in certain things, and you are told that if you don't go to church every week, and praise the lord, you are commiting a sin.
And there are lots of religious people I know who are just religious because that is how they were raised, and they were told to believe that. They don't even have any other reason as to why they are religious, and never really thought why they are. Ridiculous.

i'm hoping a number of my Contacts do no longer see this; they're going to actual be offended. I grew up Catholic. i replaced into an regulate boy. I attended Catholic college in the process the 5th grade, and went to mass each and every Sunday till I grew to become 17. It wasn't till, at age forty six and that i moved to the Czech Republic (that's extremely a non-non secular u . s .), that i found out how little I challenged any the ideals of the church, and the doctrine we've been taught from an extremely youthful age. as an occasion, my 2 suitable acquaintances here, Miroslav and Sarka, went out at the same time for 8 years and while the time replaced into precise economically, have been given married. in spite of the indisputable fact that, in the States, human beings have been nevertheless uneasy approximately them residing at the same time devoid of the earnings of marriage. They went to the States to paintings for the summer season, and in spite of the certainty that many households have been desirous to have the two one in each and every of them one after the other, no person needed an single couple. Now I see how completely organic that's to have a relationship, which at some time could be codified via marriage. i do no longer evaluate cohabitation "a sin" as till now. once you seem on the huge difficulty with radical Muslims, that's the suitable case to instruct that faith can certainly be a sort of brainwashing. those human beings are thoroughly irrational, so except there is a few genetic predispositon to psychological subjects in the midsection East, then the strict teachings of their faith via radical Imams, ought to be the reason of their habit. i do no longer propose to sound anti-non secular. For some human beings, faith is a convenience and a blessing. in spite of the indisputable fact that, cutting-edge events have shown the darkish underbelly of religion.

That's OK the brain needs a lot of washing. Did you know watching TV brainwashed people. You just watch and in time you think that is the norm and eventually you begin become numb to what is real. Bill boards so many subliminal messages. Or what about sports athletes they do the same activities daily rising extremely early and work hard like anything, for what? A metal and fame. I like the brainwashing I got. Because I chose to take up the process of purification. It is a cleansing process. We as humans are to be regulated in our actions. We are to go beyond bodily designations. Even in boot camp that is what the goal is to realize one is not the body. So wash away all the dirt off the brain. That is very good. Now if their is abuse that is another thing. But if one accepts the rigorous regulations for purification then Excellent. Because one will gradually raise their consciousness if they do their austerities for the right reasons. (To purify the heart and mind.)

Some people follow religion blindly, but true Christianity is just the opposite. 'Brainwashed' obedience is no better than disobedience. If a person follows blindly or because he (or she) was raised a certain way, they aren't really following Christ. Christianity comes from the heart and starts with a decision that an individual makes for them self. I'm sorry you've had such experience with the blind.

I'm extremely concerned by the willingness to accept whatever "information" is given to to them or found in an "approved" as totally true. We can see this in two examples: 1. The misconception that atheism is a religion plotting the downfall of Christianity and 2. Totally misinterpreted science facts twisted around to point to a "glaring" error that professionals have missed.

It's rotten.
Since visiting R&S I have actually discovered people who now believe such things as the following::
1. Atheists prove God exists because they 'don't believe in him'. (i.e. if God didn't exist. there would be no 'Atheists to 'not believe' in him...!!!)
2. Naked women's bodies are an inviting men to rape them.
3. Someone actually asked "If evolution is true, then why don't we see rocks with wings?" And no, they weren;t trolling.... (thanks for inspiring my avatar though!)
4. Actually looking forward to 'Armageddon' when they will be 'rid of' all the rest of us...
5. That Christianity isn't a religion, but 'atheism is'
6. Teach their children that it is unnatural to love someone who isn't the same ethnicity as them...
7. etceteraaaaargh...
8. Ooops, forgetting the classic: "Education is evil, and people who study are arrogant, prideful, and going to hell..."

True...
Not bothered about it at all.
Reality is we are individuals, when we start thinking we are something other than ourselves then we are lying to ourselves.
If there is something out there and we are just ourselves,
it seems there would be a better understanding on where we stand as individuals as sinners, than something we are not.

Like it or not, I am so proud to be "Brain washed for Jesus".
Being brainwashed means to have your ideas replaced by anothers ideas.
I Praise God every minute of the day that His ideas are replacing my old sinful ideas, and I pray that it happens faster and faster.
And I DON'T have to do anything, He makes me do nothing, I do it to show my love for saving me from destruction.
I know what I was (you don't know what I was)
I know what I have done (you don't)
by all rights I should be murdered, put to death or at least in prison for the things I have done while I was living according to "my ideas".
I know when God changed me and I know the change that took place...AND I THANK HIM WITHOUT CEASING FOR REPLACING "MY IDEAS" WITH HIS.

It only brainwashes the weak-minded.
And, the brainwashers are looking for power and money.
There it is, in a nutshell. (Emphasis on the Nut part).

I do, wholeheartedly believe that religion brainwashes people and not in a good way. It teaches them to rely on some other being to do everything for them.
A woman in a prayer group I go to for my son's school (I go for moral support) said her power was going to be turned off yesterday and they didn't have food but their church provided for them and now, she's glad her children saw that prayer works. How about YOU working and providing for your children! Gee willikers!
Anyway, I prefer to rely on myself for support and knowledge, not some unseen being.
