All speakers should be timbre' matched using different brands even a different series, will cause imaging and sound stage problems. You are best off matching to your existing set up or replacing the whole set. you do not want to replace a center channel in the thinking that it will help.

Could I ask you a question: What flavor ice-cream tastes best: Chocolate, Vanilla, Strawberry?
If 2 people answered differently - who is wrong?
Speakers have 'flavor' and different people like different flavors so you cannot really ask 'which is better...?' and get a true answer.
Han actually told you the best answer. If you have Bose for the L/R speakers now - get the Bose center so you have tone-match as sounds swirl around. If you have JBL already - get the matching center for that.
Even if you have less-accurate or inexpensive L/R speakers, try and find the matching center from the same company. Even budget speakers can create a great HT sound experience if you place them correctly and have them tone matched.

The Bose center is horrible. By that I mean compared to other bose products. I bought it and was immediately disappointed in it. It sounds like a very cheap "home theater in a box" center. I would go with a JBL or Polk

Speaker for speaker, Bose is definitely better than JBL. Bose is at the forefront of speaker technology whereas JBL is generally known for "getting the job done." You'll also notice that Bose speakers sell at a higher premium than its JBL counterpart and that's because it's higher quality.

Just about anything is better than Bose. $30 bargain speakers from Radio Shack are better than Bose.
