The better parent is the one who doesn't consider it a competition between mothers and fathers to see who is the "better parent" .

I believe both mothers and fathers play an equally important role when it comes to parenting. I don't think one gender over the other is better, but I do believe that each parents differently. This does not make one better than the other, just different. It is traditionally thought that women are better parents because they tend to be more nurturing and compassionate. But, that is not always the case, and some men are more compassionate in nature than some women, If that is the dynamic in a particular marriage, it may be that it is the father who is more nurturing and hands-on while the mother is the more interactive for shorter time periods and less involved in day-to-day scheduling. I know several families with stay-at-home dads. That wouldn't be for my husband, but he is still a great dad.

There is no answer to that. They are both parents in different ways and each bring something to the table. Both are needed to make a child, and both are needed to raise a child. The best parents are a mother and a father that live every day in the same house with their children, raising them together as a parental unit.

Firstly, good luck for your essay. That's a hard question because we are all so different. But I will just comment by saying that women have a special maternal instinct that men don't possess - a God given thing that is inbuilt. Because of this we seem to sense danger easier for kids and be fiercely protective. This is one thing that most men simply don't possess.
Men, by nature, seem to be more "she'll be right", if that makes sense. Having said that, men have the capability to be every bit as good a parent as a woman. But they do go about things in different ways due to their physiological make up. Different, yes, worse, not necessarily.

there is a study on single parents and the contact and none contact of each parent. When the child lived with the mother and had no father contact the child had big problems. when it was the other way still big problems. when they had some contact very little problems and when there was all the contact the child could get at any time no problems at all. Love does wonders.

I'd say mothers are more tender but neither one is really better because of mother vs father. It's more how they treat their child. Some parents are lowsy ones and it has nothing to do with male or female. When both are loving and caring they're equal.

mothers and fathers cannot be generalize like that, put into a group based on their sex and the determined who is the better parent.
Too bad we can't rate questions like we can answers.

Women and men parent differently. Each sex has their weaknesses and strengths. Also each situation has it's own unique dynamics. What it really comes down to is a matter of personal opinion.

i don't think that you can do a mother verses father....they both have pros and cons.....both my parents were there when i was sick, the first time i got my heart broke, my first dance, there is no possible way that i could tell yhou or anyone else who the better parent was....they were both always there when i needed them the most....i have special memories with each and both of them
