I boil for about 4 minutes then pan fry them in butter so they are crispy. Make sure to flip them and do not use too much butter ad more when needed.
I have also fried them in oil. I prefer the butter.
Fried season them with salt.
You can boil them and serve with fried onions. Or just ad salt to them if you don't like to fry or do not want fried food.

I always boil them and then fry them in a pan with butter and onions.
When you boil them, just boil them until they come to the top of the water and don't want to sink anymore. Once they stay at the top, take them out and let them dry a bit. Then prepare a pan with chopped onions, garlic and some butter. Add the pierogies and let them brown on both sides. Once they are finished , eat your little heart out!!!!
yumm..i love fresh pierogies

You can fry in a little butter/oil or simply boil them for a couple of minutes. They are so easy & cheap to make. The sauwerkraut (mind the spelling) ones are nice served with small peices of fried bacon. See if you can find Golapki in jars also, they are very tasty & easy to make, they can be kept for a few days like the pierogi.

I boil mine for a couple of minutes then drain them and fry them in a frying pan with butter and some chopped onions. They are also really good with pasta sauce on them. Another good way to serve them in to add some sliced kelbasa to the pan when you are frying the pierogies up.

I love pierogies. I boil them in salted water until they are cooked through.
While they are boiling I sautee a few onions in equal parts of butter and olive oil with a little salt and pepper. Let them get nearly carmelized. Then add your pierogies and sautee them with the onions until they are carmelized. The pierogies will get slightly crunchy on the outside.
Serve with sour cream. They are so good.

Yummm I love pierogis. I pan fry mine with 2tlbs butter and 2tbls veggie oil. The oil gives the butter a higher frying temp before it begins to burn. I just add salt and pepper and then eat them with sour cream. I went to an authentic polish restaurant with my fam once and had the goat cheese stuffed pierogis and they were amazing! They were lightly browned and crispy.

If they are frozen you must boil them first. Read the package directions, and don't overcook, they won't taste as good. Better to be 'al dente' like pasta. I like boiled perogies (sorry, that's the way we spell it here) with sauteed onions and sour cream, or with a mushroom sauce. Another alternative is serving it with small pieces of bacon, fried hard.
An alternative - fried perogies are really, really good. I usually do it with leftovers (but there are rarely any - my husband can eat six or seven DOZEN). To fry them, you put the boiled perogies in a pan with some butter which has melted, put on medium heat, and ONLY turn when they are browned, then flip them. You want them browned, so they are crunchy. I eat fried perogies with fried onions (go figure) and ketchup. Yeah, my bad...
My favourite perogies are potato and cheddar cheese, I also make them with sauerkraut, and sometimes with a cottage cheese mixture.
Once a year in cherry season, I make them with cherries, and they are served with sour cream and sugar.
Most often, our meal is JUST perogies, but sometimes I serve it with kolbassa (garlic sausage), ham - and for special occasions - holubtsi (cabbage rolls).
Ok, now you have made me hungry!

i dont always boil them, but if they are frozen it just helps cut the cooking time.
boil just for a few min., then fry them in a pan, flipping often, in butter or oil, or a little of both. fry for about 5-10 min. then add some chopped onions, and chopped uncooked bacon.
you have to have the bacon!
serve with a heaping helping of sour cream and grated cheese ontop. Delicious!!

Pierogi's Recipe
Ingredients:
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
4 potatoes
3 slices American cheese
2 eggs
3 to 4 tbsp. water
2 tbsp. butter
Salt and pepper to taste
1/2 lb. bacon, fry and cut in pieces
Cooking Directions:
Beat eggs slightly and add flour, salt, and a little water to make soft dough. Knead until smooth. Put on floured board to rest and cover with glass bowl for 1 hour. Meantime, boil cut up potatoes. Drain; add butter, cheese, salt, and pepper. Let cheese melt on potatoes and mash. (Do not add milk.) Roll out dough about 1/16 inch. Cut into 2 inch squares and put in potato filling (about 1 tablespoon); make into triangle. Bring salted water (2 tablespoons) to boil. Put in Pierogi and boil rapidly for about 8 minutes.
Saute onion in 1 stick of butter and let butter get golden brown. After Pierogi is boiled and drained in colander, pour butter and onion mixture and crumbled bacon over them. Serve with sour cream on the side. Serves 4 to 6.
