What do you mean by "the current Backup software"? Do you mean the Backup.app that comes with buying a DotMac account? That will probably stay in place for at least another year since many DotMac users will not buy Leopard (OS 10.5) right away.

There is no backup software in Mac OS Tiger (OS 10.4.x). Time Machine will be the first integration of backup and Mac OS X.
