Does anyone really care about the Blu Ray movies?

I know that having the 50 gig disc is a big deal for the gamers, but if Blu Ray loses the format war to HD/DVD, do you really care?

Personally, I don't give one flying f**k about Blu Ray flicks. People keep telling me, I should be mad I was "forced" by Sony to buy a BD player with my Playstation. Now, I love games on Blu Ray. Any multi-platform game that comes out on multiple discs for the 360 immediately becomes a PS3 purchase, in my book. But when it comes to movies, regular DVD is good enough for me.

What do you think?

That's why I put "forced" in quotations.

See, I did it again! :)

The only Blu Ray movie I own is the copy of Talladega Nights that came with my console. I watched it twice; once on my 26" CRT when I first got the console and once on my 37" LCD HDTV when I got the HD cables hooked up. The difference was HUUUUGE. It was like looking at two different movies. I marveled at how crisp and clean the image became...

...then I went right back to not caring at all about Blu Ray movies...

I'm super-excited about what that 50 gig disc means to future games, especially if Heavenly Sword and Uncharted are any indication of what's to come. But, as far as I'm concerned, Blu Ray movies can go in the fire.

It was part of the reason that I bought the PS3 (I would have bought it anyway) but I think blu ray will win. The only bluray movie I have purchased is 300. I like the upscaling of regular DVD's too- Sin City looks awesome upscaled on my TV. I hope blu ray does not lose, that will not be good news for Sony or the PS3- but as long as they still made good games I would not complain too much.

For one thing, you were not forced to buy a BD player with the playstation. You probably didn't have to buy PS3 if you didn't want to.

To me the BD player is just a perk to having the PS3. I have had the PS3 for about 2 months and haven't even tried a BD movie yet. I am sure sooner or later i will. The PS3 is first a gaming system then comes teh BD player.

Not overly bothered, at least until i get a HD telly.
Although, if Blu-ray does take off in a big way, it may help bring the price of the games down a bit.

If you had a 1080p system; you'd know the difference... I can't stand watching anything in anything less than 720p anymore...
