They can't. Very good point.

The problem we run into is with the weak of faith: they are very afraid of looking into other points of view and ideas from other religions. Most of the time, their fear makes them closed off and mean, and they end up causing discord with their unthinking protection of their weak belief system.

Well, I don't believe one needs to be religious to be spiritual. In fact at some points religion and spirituality seem to be almost complete opposites. However, I do think that learning about different religious beliefs is a good thing to do. Just be be well educated. But no, you don't need religion to be spiritual.

I don't really have a lot to add, the answers [the first 15 I've seen at least] to this question, have been some of the best quality on here, even the dissenters have shown some outward respect.

Though I have minor points of correction I think may help in mind, I do not think that a person, viewing the total output of those before me, could not come to on their own by simply being sincere, and impartial, regardless of themselves.

I'm am very impressed and pleased.

God bless all.

I really don't think one has to be part of an organized religion to make spiritual decisions, what religion shouldn't matter.

If your talking of spiritual decisions CONCERNING other religions, you are right, but only to a degree. The Bible says that anyone who preaches something contrary to the gospel that Paul and Peter preached (coming straight out of God's mouth) they will be accursed. There are many christian denominations out there that aren't preaching truth. I make that decision based on the Bible.

If you are talking of the knowledge of other religions, then you make a good point. No one should comment on any religion other than there own unless they know a significant amount about what they are refuting.

Knowing about all religions certainly makes the picture bigger in a person. They have more empathy, understanding and wisdom. But I think too that a person without any knowledge of religion can still access their higher power or values to find their way.

Because religion and spirituality are different...I guess. Everyone has a spirit...but none of us has to have a religion. I don't personally believe this.

Well, God said seek and ye shall find. He wants us to diligently search for Him. If you have to investigate a few false religions to find Him, then that is your journey. But I can give you a short cut to Truth....The Holy Bible. Don't be so concerned with putting a name on your faith as God putting His Name on you. When you find Him, you will know what to do by the leadership of His Holy Spirit. Making good decisions spiritually after that is just a matter of maturing in the faith. Read and study His Word. For wisdom, a good place to start is Proverbs. But you'll have little understanding until you accept Jesus as your personal Savior. Then the Holy Spirit comes within you and never leaves. It is He who will guide you into all truth. May God help you find His Truth.

They cannot. That is the reason that there are books. I have spent years educating my self on many other religions. You must have knowledge to make sound decisions.
