You need to go on a vision quest. The native Americans used to do this in various ways. Sometimes they would take peyote to enhance the process. It mainly involved a solitary journey into nature.

Spirit guides are helpful. Don't listen to anti-spirit guide propaganda from fundies or Catholics. There are belligerent spirits you should be careful of, though.

When people talk about a 'spirit guide' it is usually in association with mediums/channelers and refers to a 'familiar spirit' which is a demon.

There are many ways you can do this. You can start with meditation by visualizing yourself on a journey, your guide may show up to you during this meditation. You can also speak to a medium, many of them are sensitive enough to sense your guide. Sometimes a guide will show up during a spiritual ceremony or practice like a labrynth walk or a sweat lodge. Sometimes you can access your guide just by journaling for guidance in a particular area of your life.

God is the way to spiritual guidance.Pray with since heart, and open your heart to Him. Open your eyes to see, ears to hear, and heart to hear him and receive the guidance He provides.
There is the one and only God that died on the cross for our sins to be forgiven when we repent and belong to Him.
Pray, go to a church you maybe interest in, read the Bible and get more insight, learn the ways of Jesus. That is your spiritual guide.

There are various meditations one can do in order to find their Spirit Guide, and books on it can be found in bookstores, and online... it's one of those things you have to work with as you feel comfortable with or not, since there ARE various ways to do it.

meditate & call to them then listen for them to come to you.
most show up in a form pleasing to you either mentally or physically as in the form of a familiar. they talk to you inside your head like a concision. so you also have to listen for them to talk to you after you call them.
