We need matter in order for things to excite. Matter is substance: that which has mass and occupies space; "an atom is the smallest indivisible unit of matter"

Scientist say that the "BIG BANG" came from nothing... how could everything be create if there was nothing... no substance??? It’s impossible.

http://www.big-bang-theory.com/ - The big bang theory - everything came from nothing okay... sure....

"Prior to that moment there was nothing; during and after that moment there was something: our universe." -

As I understand it, scientists *now* believe... that the Big Bang was caused by the intersection of two 'branes'. Of course, that begs the question of where THEY came from.

Meanwhile, God said 'Let there be Light', and leaves it at that. The Bible doesn't go into details as to what that means. But since speech is vibrations in the air, and since String Theory is all about vibrations in hyperspace, I suspect science is headed in the right direction, and may even get there some day.

Icarus - How do you figure God is Nothing? Christians don't say that the universe came from nothing, it came from God!

Scientist claim that matter can neither be created nor destroyed. Just a thought: where did the matter come from in the first place? That's just one of the many problems with the Big Bang Theory. The REAL Big Bang Theory is that God spoke and BANG it happened. :)

The Big Bang theory does NOT say that the Universe came from nothing. That's a theist idea. Big Bang says that the Universe ALWAYS existed in some form

Big Bang:
matter/energy to begin with + Big Bang = Universe as we experience it.

Theism:
Nothing to begin with + God = Universe as we experience it.

Secular scientists are now realizing that the big bang couldn't have happened. They are now saying we had to have been created by a "higher intelligence" (God, of course) because we're way too complex to have happened by chance. I'm not a huge George Carlin fan, but he said it best: "If we evolved from monkeys and apes, then why are there still monkeys and apes?"

The big bang did not come from nothing, it came from a singularity of matter, anyways its just a silly theory, who knows how accurate it is, that still doesnt make your imaginary god any more real

Does this somehow prove there is a god?
Where did god come from?
Idiotic.
You don't understand Big Bang theory at all. Besides, it is one of many theories and it incomplete. Nobody suggests it is definitely what happened, just one possible explanation for which there is much evidence.

There is the multiverse theory, M-theory, and the instability of nothingness. The balance between negative and positive energy in the universe lead scientists to believe no supernatural entity is necessary.

[edit] I love this quote "Just because people disagree with you, doesn't mean you're right."

No, all that supernatural stuff is fine for children's fairy stories and adult movies but you're not supposed to actually take it as real. Science (quantum physics) tells us that absolute nothingness can't exist, because existence is probabilistic not deterministic, so there was never a state of nothingness followed by something.

Nope, not gonna tell you that you're wrong. So if there is no God then, get your own materials and do it yourself, scientifically!
