The 16 is your first molar, a very important tooth.
You said you need it fixed and it will cost 750 dollars, but you forgot to mention if you are getting a root canal or just a filling.

If it's a root canal, i'm sorry but your dentist is keeping information from you. When you get a root canal espically in the back, your tooth becomes very weak and there is a very big chance that it wil break. For that fact you should get a post and a crown along with it, which is a lot more money.

If you can afford to have it completly fixed for 750 dollars and your dentist says that is a simple filling then go for it. But if you need a root canal, its another story.

If you just do a root canal, it may break and you'll need to pull it out in the end anyways.

16 is a wissom tooth, but some people need it to chew if they are missing teeth in between. If that is the price on a RCT, that is a great price! Does it include the post? $750 is really fair, so fix it if you need to keep the tooth. Otherwise, get it extracted.

if you're sure it's 16, get rid of it. Even if you use it, I've only seen trouble over the last 20 years. If it's 14, 15, 18 or 19, keep it. If you have any doubts, go to a senior retirement center and ask them if they miss their teeth. They'll tell you "yes" Losing one just starts a long, slow domino effect that speeds up as you get older. By 60 you're missing many chewing surfaces. If you plan on livin' long, keep as many of your teeth as you can!

Many people who live near Mexico travel there for good quality, inexpensive dental work. There may also be dentists in your local area who would charge less, depending on what needs to be done. Call some dentists and ask for a consultation.

If you have the other molars up there [14 & 15] then I'd say have it extracted. If one or both of those are missing then save it.

#16 is a wisdom tooth the way I count. I would have it extracted.

SINCE # 16 IS A WISDOM TOOTH YOU REALLY DON'T NEED IT, UNLESS IT'S THE ONLY TOOTH THERE IT'S NOT WORTH THE INVESTMENT OF THE TIME AND MONEY.
