Ban all drive-thrus. Make the fatties get out of their cars to get that supersized Big Mac combo, thereby 1) reducing the amount of exhaust pumped into the air at all those McDonald's and 2) getting people off of their fat a_sses and burn a few more calories.

No more bank drive thrus, no more fast food drive thrus, no more liquor store drive thrus, no more drug store drive thrus, no more dry cleaner drive thrus. Get the hell out of the car and walk a little and save the environment while you're at it.

First sensible idea in a long while, also make all supermarket car parks at least 100 ft from door way, and reserve far more places for the truly needy folk, who need wheelchair and walker access

I agree 100%. No matter what anyone's opinion might be on Global Warming, making the process of getting fat such a convenience should be a crime.

Like a comedian once said, you can have a burger in one hand, your drink in the other, the frys wedged between the console and your leg, and you are steering with your wrist, drinking, eating, slurping...and that is perfectly ok as long as you buckle up!

If cell phones are a distraction, having dinner in your car while you drive is absolutely a distraction.

Get out, walk to the counter, get, and actually use a few napkins, and then maybe the drive thru workers won't have to go on oxygen someday because all the fumes they have had to inhale.

I think it would be hard to do away or ban all drive-thrus, since there are so many and it seems like all businesses are putting them in if they don't have them. I can understand why a pharmacy might have one. It seems like there should be an extra payment (like a required tip) to use the drive-thru for food, if the extra charge kept getting higher, more people might willingly get out of their cars. Eventually, businesses wouldn't see the value of having a drive-thru so when remodeling, there wouldn't be a drive-thru. The businesses would like the extra earnings from the people using the drive-thru,

You have a good point there. I read where once you idle your car for over 30 seconds it wastes more gas to continue idling than if you turned off the car and restarted it. I've actually done that in a drive thru before.

But the reality is that they're in the business of making it easier for their patrons. Drive thru windows are very popular and I don't see them going away.

.......Now I wonder why i never questioned them before! This is a great idea! Though i can already see the arguments "I don't have time".... pfft, it would take less time to go into the restaurant, the way drive thrus are now.

BRILLIANT suggestion ... then again, why not raise taxes or something so the fast food places go out of business and are forced to close down.

better yet - ban all yellow school buses, make them get out and walk. It's THE solution to childhood obesity as well as cutting out all that emissions from those smoking school buses!

Maybe, if everyone in the world wore white, it would increase the Albedo of the planet and combat global warming as well.
