If you feel like the interview is going well and the officer is very friendly and in a good mood you could always ask as a bit of a joke what his/her favorite kind of donut/bagel is, I've had that question on occasion and it makes me chuckle.

Plain with chocolate icing BTW.

Hello, what is the nature of your assignment? What I mean is ask questions that will fulfill the requirements for your assignment; also this is a great opportunity for you to find out certain things about a police officer; afterall you are taking a criminology class.

Good luck on your assignment hope you do get a good mark.

Ask them for their opinion of the damage the Labour government's imposition of sanction detections and demand for meeting targets and statistics has done to policing in England and Wales. That is one of the top subjects of complaint police officers have at national level at this time... and has been for a few years.

Some of the more popular quesitons I get are

Why did you become an officer

What do you like best

What do you like worst

How do feel about how the media portrays officers

What is your greatest accomplishment

What would you say to someone just starting a career

How do you handle the stress

How does your wife/husband/family deal with your job

What desire to you have to want to continue your education?
What experience can you bring that hasn't already been brought?
Just because you are a law enforcement officer, what makes you want the become an EXCEPTIONAL law enforcement officer?
What aspects do you want to to take from this class and use on the field? And how will taking this class benefit the aspects you excpect to bring to the field?

You want to be direct and firm. As a law enforcement officer, I know.

Statistics show that once someone is pulled over, blacks are for more likely to get searched. Why do you think that is?

(Google the stats if you ask that. I'm to lazy.)

The majority of prison inmates are black, even though they only represent 14% of the US population. Why do you think that is?

It has been proposed in some progressive cities, that the police force should be run like the fire department. Stations of officers ready to be disperced immediatly on call. This would save thousands of dollars in taxes, and studies show that it would greatly improve response time. In your view, what are the negatives and positives of that proposal?

Ouch. I'm clueless now. Right on. I'll reword my question with your stats. "Officer V, 40% of prisons are black. Yet they only represent 14% of the population. Why do you think that is?" Is that better for you?
