I am 25, 5'6" and weigh 120 lbs., and would like to put on more weight. Is it more beneficial to take weight gainers/bulk up first, THEN begin weight training, or should I do both at the same time?

if you want to gain muscle mass quickly, start with a bulking cycle. this cycle consists of eating massive amounts of food (3000 calories per day) while lifting weights like a power lifter (5 sets of 5 reps at heavy weight for each exercise) after you add around 10-15 pounds and increase your strength drastically (you will) then i advise you do a cutting cycle (lower the calories, throw in cardio, and do higher reps and sets for each exercise) hope this helps

People get confused when it comes to gaining weight and gaining muscle. When you are hitting the weights hard you want to add calories to your diet but make sure you diet is balanced. If you just add junk calories your body will convert those extra calories to fat not muscle. I found out in my years of lifting that some supplements (protien) work but most get processed right through your system with no benefit. A lot of supplements have more of a psychological effect then physical but maybe sometimes you need that. Good luck!

Actually just do the weights. Muscle does weigh more than fat does. By lifting your going to increase your matabolism so extra protien is needed for the "bulking" process. Stay away from sugars, soda and most fast foods and junk foods...they are not beneficial at all . Taking vitimin supplements help as well.

Definitely both at the same time. In fact, when you're bodybuilding, you can't help but to gain fat as well. A typical bodybuilder will gain 3-5 lbs of fat for every 1lb of muscle. After you gain 20-30 lbs, then you can go into "cutting" which is basically going on a diet and losing that excess fat, without losing muscle.

You don't need to gain weight to build muscle. .Muscle weights more than fat anyhoo....if you want to bulk up like muscle wise...go after a protein muscle power drink. Just weight training will be fine. If you stick to it you will be able to start seeing a big different in just a few short weeks

You will be gaining weight by accumulating fat. When you build up muscles, you will have to shed away the fatty part of your body. Hence, you should concentrate on building up the body which will also increase your weight. Good Luck.
