Jesus was acting via His authority as a man in a right relationship with God (not as God), so these things are ultimately available to a fully mature believer.

So He was doing God's will, and had faith. Then the Holy Spirit, who can change anything at the molecular level, since God created everything by the agency of the Holy Spirit, changed it. No problem for God, He's not subject to our natural limitations.

In ancient Greece and Rome the wine was so thick it had to be strained and diluted with water before it could be consumed. If that residue were to remain in the amphora (vessel) and dry out all you would have to do is add water and voila - instant wine!

From all accounts his gifts in influencing reality were very peculiar to him. Who knows if he actually did it or controlled others perceptions to the extent they believed it to be the case.

The significance of the story is in its metaphorical value. Our first demonstrations of authentic being will be related to the trivial needs of other people. This is only the beginning of the journey of transcending the conditioned little identity and its necessarily limited outlets for demonstrating authentic Self and purpose.

He is the son of god, he can do whatever he wants. If he wants water to be wine, then the water will be wine.

Only one step needed. Say it. Just like he calmed the waters; He said to the lake, PEACE! BE STILL! and it was.
Just like when He brought Lazarus back to life; "LAZARUS, COME FORTH!" and he did.
Why do you think God is so complicated? Sometimes people amaze me at the ignorance they have of God and the things He's capable of doing.

He touched it, and then it turned to wine. And everyone got smashed, and the world was at ease.
