Can't employers be grateful we are working for them?
It goes both ways. We, & our parents, spent plenty of money on our schooling (which included taxes) so if we worked hard at getting where we want to be, shouldn't we be provided with an explanation of where our taxes really go?
If our school system wasn't failing, our roads were paved, our houses were affordable (property taxes can be atrocious) than we might feel better. But, until we get a demographic taxchart, explaining just what we ARE paying for, then it's questionable and can be irritating for some. I don't dwell on it, but I certainly think our taxes should be able to cover a stupid bus ride for a field trip my kid takes. I don't mind the donation portion, but it's obviously a mess in California.
I think we all just want to feel like it's fair. Truth is, we're dealing with the government...that will NEVER happen.

People dont whine about taxes so much as what the taxes are spent on.
I personally have a hard time with any govt or oganization that forcibly takes my income and demands that I spend it on charity or welfare.
It creates a negative enviornment and people are less apt to help when this happens.
I am a big brother and I try visit a homeless shelter fairly close by to keep the truly at need top-o-mind, but there are far too many people on the govt teat.
And no, you lived on the coast by choice, rebuild your house by choice. Its not my obligation to make sure your ocean-frontn property can be rebuilt.

It is getting to the point that if you have a minimum wage job, you would be better off without one. There is so much available to people who have children who don't have jobs that it doesn't make sense to work and have 1/4 of what you make never get to your pocket. If you add to that the amount you pay in sales taxes, property taxes and vehicle taxes, that minimum wage job seems to be a lot of work and inconvenience for no gain.
Perhaps if the tax bite was less invasive we wouldn't have so many complaints.
We need to get rid of income taxes altogether.

First jack up taxes to the pre republican rates (1970s when the highest bracket was 70% not 28% and the lowest brakcet was 15% not 10%) and remove all the Bush tax cuts.
Then let people stew for a couple years.
Next, completly remove the income tax and replace it with the Fair Tax at 20% sales tax on non-necessities and a monthly prebate check for the poor.
Finally, when people are still complaining about taxes, carpet bomb the entire world with nuclear and biological weapons completely eradicating all human life.
And then no one will be complaining about taxes.

lower taxes mean more jobs, and more revenue to the government. the problem is liberals wanting to end the tax cuts for the rich. they claim that the rich dont pay their fair share of taxes, but they never give you the actual numbers;
the top 1% of wage earners in this country pay nearly 40% of the taxes collected by the government
the top 50% of wage earners pay 97% of the taxes collected by the government.
that means fully 50% of the people in this country pay only 3% of the taxes collected by the government, and yet these are the people who the liberals target with "the rich not paying their fair share of taxes, and we need to soak the rich" statements. they also talk about tax cuts being corporate welfare, but they fail to tell you that corporations pass those hidden taxes on to you the consumer, so lower taxes cuts the price of thing you buy.

Lower taxes and that would help... did you know that the average person will have to work until April 30 this year before they pay off their tax debt for the year? Yes that is right you work 4 months for the government and 8 months for you!

seems funny that those who pay very little in taxes want to make the system "fair".
Fools. Wait until you make some real money. You'll see why the more you make, the angrier you become. The reason the middle class is shrinking is because of the government and taxes. We have socialism in this country for most, and the super rich liberals who cannot feel any tax hike, and the people who barely work are the ones who think people like me should pay more.
The Democrats can see that lowering taxes increases government revenues, but they refuse to acknowledge that the Republicans are correct on that. Why can't the 2 party's work together to lower taxes (Increase in revenue) and to cut spending? Republicans tried to act like Dems and promise everything to everyone, yet it backfired since the Liberals ignored that and actually attacked them for spending (imagine that! Liberals only want to increase spending so they can say they did it). We are getting caught in the middle of this power play, and most Americans cannot even see it.

When the roads are undrivable
When our kids aren't taught anything in school
When our streets are too dangerous
When buildings start to fall all around us
When the politicians start projects they can't finish
When social security can't help our old
When welfare can't help the lazy
When our water is dirty
When our air is polluted
When the government cant save the economy
When our armed forces aren't properly equipped and protected
When our jails are overcrowded
When our police and fire depts are understaffed
When our teachers are underpaid
When our govt no longer does the job we've entrusted them with
Then people will stop complaining.
....Whoa theres a lot of posts here

Americans are taxed the lowest compared to other first-world countries. Bush made the graduated income tax more regressive by capping it at 28%, instead of 35% under Clinton. Those that are making 5, 10, or even 20 times more than other should be taxed a lot more--hell, why not raise the cap to 50 or 60% or higher. I don't see any reason someone needs to make so much more than another person. Money isn't the only incentive to working hard. Other incentives include altruism, creativity and pleasure. Contrary to a lot of thought, doctors don't go into their field to make money--it's sort of a plus to them.

Tell them that if they don't want to live in this wonderful country, they should move elsewhere. Any REAL American would be grateful to give a tithing to his country. How are we ever going to achieve President Bush's dream of bringing peace and freedom to the rest of the world, if we are not willing to pay for it?
