In any set of people, you will find common goals and ideals, atheists are no exception. Another way to say this is that atheists do have at least one thing in common and that tends to influence their other views. If you spend a bit of time here reading and understanding various peoples Q&A's you will notice common trends but also that there are varying degrees and definite differences among all groups.
One trend you will notice among Christians is some of them are unable to understand atheists, as they have been taught that atheism is a religion and out to get Christianity only. They have a set of assumptions that they are unwilling to change to fit the actual facts.

Well, I've belonged to a few groups. They both just deteriorated into a let's go hang at the coffee shop social club. All that really got done was b****ing about the religious, and arguing about what to do about it.
Most of the more successful ones are pretty much lobbying or debate groups.

One of the reasons for being Atheists. We are opposed to the "Monkey See- Monkey Do" mentality.

"I mean would you work as a group in a zoo with a bunch of monkeys you went to visit?"
That sentence more accurately describes the religious than the nonreligious.

Huh?
That is a bit extreme saying we have nothing in common. That is not true if we had nothing in common then we would not be Atheists.
We believe mostly the same things what is important is that we do not believe in God or Gods.

Around here the only way I've seen atheists "working together" is on one of those roadside cleanup signs.... some local atheist group has volunteered to be responsible for a section of highway and keep it clean. I haven't seen any churches' names on any of those signs.

If it was going to produce results that we in my favor, then yes.
Atheists work with others because we know that it advantageous for us to do so. Both for us and for society as a whole.
