I have seen Catholics claim we should thank them for the Bible. That they compiled it and even sometimes they claim to have written it. They say if it were not for the Catholic church we would not even have the Bible. Is this true? The Bible makes it clear that it is God who preserves His Word. Not man. Without the Catholic church the Bible still would be preserved. God promised it and He cannot lie.
Isaiah 40:8 The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.
1Peter 1:25 But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.

Guardian - I suggest that God decided which books should be included. Not man.

Born-Again Catholic - Actually I have seen many Catholics claim that Catholics wrote the Bible. And the Bible I hold came to me through God not man.

No early church council decided on the canon. It was God, and God alone, who determined which books belonged in the Bible. It was simply a matter of God convincing His followers of what He had already decided upon. The human process of collecting the books of the Bible was flawed, but God, in His sovereignty, despite our ignorance and stubbornness, brought the early church to the recognition of the books He had inspired.

It is undoubtedly true that His Word would have been preserved regardless. But as it happened, God preserved his Word through the body of Christians who are the Catholic Church. Unless there's an entirely different canon of Scripture somewhere that was somehow passed down through the ages untainted by Catholic hands until it landed safely in the custody of reformationists, the inescapable fact is that the Bible you hold did come to you through the Church.
The Church has never claimed that it wrote the Bible. Church scholars did transcribe it, and translate it. As have others.

The Church has fulfilled many missions. It is not perfect, like many protestant sects. The Church was the first to put together the written documents into one bible, around 400 AD. Don't confuse the written word with the spiritual word. John says "in the beginning was the Word" Does that mean there was a bible in the beginning before space and time?

Sure, the Bible is God's word, but who decided which books would be included in the Canon of Scripture?
The Catholic Church, in the 4th Century. It's a historical fact.
The Holy Spirit guides the Church always, and that included when the writers penned the books, and when the Catholic Church brought them all together.

Guardian is correct. God guided the Church while she put the books of the bible together, and God continues to guide the Church.
He promised "Lo I will be with you until the end of the age."
And "the gates of Hell shall not prevail" against the Church.

The Holy Spirit of God guided the Catholic Church as she assembled the Canon in the 4th century.
I thank them both!

Yes, Catholics take credit for as much at they can.
Then they call the Bible Christians who give God credit the for the Bible "Heritics".
Peter never had a ministry of Gentiles (no Jews). Peter only had a congragation of Jews.
Simple Bible reading will show this is a false Church.

We should thank God. He gave us the Bible, thru men.
To me, the Catholic church seems to think, they are god.
They have way to much power. Just my opinion...

The only thing catholics has done to the bible is turn it around & twisted scriptures trying to make a false revelation of it, They don't really stand for the bible. They have polluted it over time. & the cathoilics DID NOT write the bible. & neither do they do the things Peter did, as they clim, Peter was a married man & he only baptized people by complete immursion in water in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, Just these 2 things is only or starters, I could go on & on how they twist the bible.

That is a Roman Papist Lie. The Bible is the Word of God. I have heard Catholics on EWTN say that their church produced Jesus as well...
I'll thank the Catholics for my wife, but that's it.
