No, definitely not raise taxes. That is the one thing that would cause a rebellion in this country. We do not need any more taxes. In fact, they could lower our tax or should I say lower the taxes for the lower to middle income but probably raise taxes for the upper tax income bracket if they would simply set a rate of a straight-across-the-board 10% Income Tax for everyone. That would simplify the system and put more money in the "kitty" for our politicians to delve out. But our government doesn't want to simplify anything...that might take away jobs.

I think that is an excellent idea. There should be a line item on every Federal tax return that asks the question.

How much are you willing to contribute to support illegal aliens in this country? This will increase your tax.

That way all of the pro-illegal supporters can put their money where their mouth is.

My guess is the fed would not collect that much and the lack of support would serve as mandate. It would prove that no one supports illegal immigration if it directly affects them.

No, because we would be paying it and the illegals wouldn't. There's a proper way to come into this country. My family came over here as refugees, used the welfare system properly, and the percentages of college graduates has quadrupled with every generation. The problem with illegal aliens is they send a lot of money back home where they eventually go back to when they've made enough. They just take money out of our economy and become a real burden on our resources. Don't get me wrong, there's plenty of immigrants I know from Mexico and everywhere who followed proper procedure and have added plenty to this country. All I know is if you start off in a society by breaking a law, it is called illegal alien, I can't see how you garner any respect for the system.

Why did that guy even have to say that? This country doesn't owe anything to anybody. It took all races and creeds to build it into the nation it is today. It started with the blood of the Native Americans. Their people were decimated. Some of them were forced right into extinction. And even today they don't have the freedom to do as they wish on their land such as grow hemp. Hundreds of thousands of people gave up their lives fighting in the civil war to point this country into the direction they wished for it to go and in the process emancipated the slaves. I don't see people with ancestors who fought for the North asking for a "Thank You". Countless Chinese died building the railroads which helped this country grow industrially. Millions of Irish died in the potato famine before they immigrated here. Plenty people of all races died during World War II. Millions of Vietnamese were killed before the US granted them refugee status. Many groups of have been wronged, the worse thing to do is dwell on the past and understand immigration is only positive if it adds to the fabric of our nation. I see illegal immigration as taking away from it.

To the guy below, I hate it when people say, "Welcome to America, now speak English." Poor English for an immigrant is better than no English. I can't remember how many times I've run into Americans that couldn't speak English properly. I've been complimented twice with, "You sure talk English good, most of the time I can't understand what yall people are saying but you talk good." I had to take ESL in school? Damn.

Maybe the ultra-rich in Mexico should pay more taxes to help their own poor. Mexico has a huge income disparity, the top 10% has a large portion of the country's wealth.

absolutely not! Government paid programs to take care of them is like serving a burglar dinner and buying him a suit of clothes before inviting him to live in your home.
