What kind of credentials do the writers of the NASB, ASV, ESV, KJV, NKJV, TMB, NIV, NLT, NRS, RSV and almost every other modern Bible have? And yet ALL of these copyists allowed the insertion the title "LORD" instead of the divine name in most of the over SIX THOUSAND instances in their 'translation' of the Hebrew Scriptures! Talk about inacuracy! The NWT is accurate in that it does not do this.

Also, (unlike the NWT) most of these other translations used were made by those who were influenced by the pagan philosophies and unscriptural traditions that their religious systems had passed down from long ago as well as other influences. For instance, 1 John 5:7 was mentioned by another answerer:

The King James Version says at 1 Jn 5:7: "For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one."

But the majority of Bible scholars (including Trinitarian ones) freely admit that this scripture is SPURIOUS! John did NOT write the words found at 1 Jn 5:7 in the KJV!

Trinitarian scholars and copyists felt compelled to ADD it to the Holy Scriptures.

It really is not about credentials- it is about Authority. Did they have authority from God to act in his name while translating the bible? You have to really ask what kind of Authority the people who wrote and translated these sacred works had. Much of the Christian world accepts the doctrines of the Nicean Council- but under whose Authority were they acting?

If a work is true it will come from someone who is acting under Authority from God. It doesn't matter how much education they have or what kind of training all that really matters is if they had Authority from God. Without that nothing else really matters.

BTW the council of Nicea was acting under authority from the Emperor Constantine.

Obtain a King James Bible with Center reference column.

Obtain a Strong's Exhaustive Concordance.

Read the NWT and check out the many cross references to other passages that support the translation of specific passages.
Check out the many footnotes the explain the reason behind why particular passages were rendered the way they were.
Check out the appendices which give much insight into the ancient languages and other source material for the more difficult passages.

All of the above show the accuracy and the integrity of the translators and the translation.

Also in many cases the KJV in its reference column backs up the rendering of the NWT, and so does further study using Strong's Concordance.

A translation of the Holy Scriptures made directly from Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek into modern-day English by a committee of anointed witnesses of Jehovah. These expressed themselves regarding their work as follows: “The translators of this work, who fear and love the Divine Author of the Holy Scriptures, feel toward Him a special responsibility to transmit his thoughts and declarations as accurately as possible. They also feel a responsibility toward the searching readers who depend upon a translation of the inspired Word of the Most High God for their everlasting salvation.” This translation was originally released in sections, from 1950 to 1960. Editions in other languages have been based on the English translation.

On what is the “New World Translation” based?

As a basis for translating the Hebrew Scriptures, the text of Rudolf Kittel’s Biblia Hebraica, editions of 1951-1955, was used. The 1984 revision of the New World Translation benefited from updating in harmony with the Biblia Hebraica Stuttgartensia of 1977. Additionally, the Dead Sea Scrolls and numerous early translations into other languages were consulted. For the Christian Greek Scriptures, the master Greek text of 1881 as prepared by Westcott and Hort was used primarily, but several other master texts were consulted as well as numerous early versions in other languages.

The New World Translation is unique in one thing – it is the first intentional systematic effort at producing a complete version of the Bible that is edited and revised for the specific purpose of agreeing with a group's doctrine. The Jehovah’s Witnesses and Watchtower Society realized that their beliefs contradicted Scripture. So, rather than conforming their beliefs to Scripture, they altered Scripture to agree with their beliefs. The “New World Bible Translation Committee” went through the Bible and changed any Scripture that did not agree with Jehovah’s Witness’ theology. This is clearly demonstrated by the fact that as new editions to the New World Translation were published, additional changes were made to the Biblical text. As Biblical Christians continued to point out Scriptures that clearly argue for the deity of Christ (for example), the Watchtower Society would publish a new edition of the New World Translation with those Scriptures changed. The JW's will not tell who translated it. They keep it secret. I think it is because they did not translate anything. They just went through the existing versions and changed it and added to and removed it as need be.
