Not really. Most guests should not bring a gift to an engagement party, however many do. Engagement gifts are generally supposed to be limited to only the closest friends and family of the bride and groom. However, the bride and groom should never expect a gift from any of their guests.

I went to an engagement party where everyone brought a gift and I didn't. I felt really dumb. So the next engagement party we took a gift and we were the only ones who brought a gift.

It's up to you and how close you are to the couple. If you do get a gift a small home gift will do or a bottle of wine to be shared at the party.

No gift is required for an engagement party, you can get them a card. It's simply a time for everyone to meet the couple, and is unusually informal.

It is customary to bring a gift. However because most bride also have a shower you still have two gifts to go so it is appropriate to give a smaller but meaningful gift. I had a cute picture of the couple and put it in a nice frame and wrote a thoughtful card, they loved it. A different couple I know (i have been in a lot of weddings) loves to eat out so I got them a gift certificate to go to their favorite restaraunt and an explanation that they might get a little busy with the wedding planning and when it got stressful to go spend a romantic evening together and unwind. Have fun at your party!

Well of course you need to bring a gift. That is what the party is for. The cost and what you buy probably depends on your relationship and your own standard of living. Give them something practical that they can use being that they're just starting out. Cristal, or maybe a decorative plate. Anything that can be added to the decor of their home.

It would probably be a good idea to bring a gift, but something small. Don't go overboard. Save the good gifts for the wedding.

I suggest taking them out to dinner on you, or give them a gift certificate to a nice resturant.

a modern-day is in no way required yet confident you may desire to hold one to the engagement occasion, bridal bathe, and wedding ceremony. a superb bottle of wine could be superb for the occasion. For the bridal bathe it truly is in many situations bridal stuff for their honeymoon or in spite of. they are going to probably be registered someplace for the marriage.
