What do you think about this?

AnArdRi,
If that is what it was about then don't you think the movie production company wouldn't have included it in their ad?

I think it reasonable to remove irrelevant references to god from the mass media when reasonable to do so, but to remove 'god' from a movie about the ten commandments is not reasonable - it's insane.

WOW! Did ANY of you read the text for the ad????

"Narrator: One of the greatest stories of all time is now an animated movie event for the entire family ... "The Ten Commandments."

God: Moses, give them my message and they will follow you out of Egypt.

Narrator: An ordinary man, an extraordinary calling.

Moses: Let my people go!

Narrator: With Ben Kingsley, Christian Slater, Alfred Molina and Elliott Gould. ... chosen by God."

Chosen by God looks to me to be VERY inappropriate in this context. It CERTAINLY looks like the ad reads that God has chosen those actors to play. Certainly VERY misleading.

The edited version replaces "chosen by God" with "from Promenade Pictures."

They were NOT taking 'chosen by God' out of a God movie; they were replacing it with more reasonable text. Simple as that. I think Disney should be COMMENDED for fixing what is a blatant error in the ad.

It bothers me sometimes when people don't take time to research an issue before commenting on it. And it ALSO just goes to show you what can happen when you take TRUE information OUT OF CONTEXT and draw conclusions!

To be honest I can see why - the advert basically has the narrator say "With " (voice actors' names) ... chosen by God", which to me sounds like it's claiming that the voice actors were chosen by God.

I think it's less a politically correctness thing, it's more of a not-sounding-so-pompous thing. If a film claimed that it's actors were chosen by God in an advert I personally would find that somewhat stuck up. I don't think radio ads for animated films should have the right to either.

I'm not really bothered but it does seem pretty stupid that God isn't allowed to be mentioned in a movie about the ten commandments. It just seems like political correctness taken too far.

I won't see nor will I support this movie. Disney will make money off of God's story, but won;t use His name to promote it? Sounds like greed to me!

EDIT: JC pointed ou to me that Disney did not create this film. It was created by Prommenade, Inc. It was Radio Disney that requested the removal of the line"chosen by God" and Prommenade did it so they could advertise their film to their target audience en mass. So, now my answer is... I may see and support the film, but I will continue to not support Disney.

Seems ridiculous to take a biblical story and leave out the main character. They do that a lot in the movies. I have seen them take several very good christian books and turn them into movies that totally leave out the christian aspect and message, leaving it nothing more than a ' feel good" story.

Yet another example of an America drunk on too much political correctness. Walt would be ashamed of Radio Disney for such gutlessness. Boo!

If we have free speach as I am told we do, and are allowed to tell people about evolution and about everything else then why aren't we allowed to speak about God in an advertisement for a MOVIE ABOUT GOD! people wouldn't do that to a movie about how God DOESNT exsist.
This is unfair treatment and unconstitutional.

I was going to write a sarcastic rant about how it was first the school, then the courts and now not even a radio spot, poor god.

Instead I will just say, "Ha ha!"

Then I would add, "Elliot Gould as the Voice of God, Ha Ha Ha."

I think I will wait for them to make it into a book!

PS, sorry to be cynical but it seems like a cheap ploy to get media attention by trying to create a controversy.
They got you to advertise their film for them for free right now.
