yesterday, i read a question about the movie jesus camp. the asker was puzzled by why people were so shocked by the documentary. according to her, she couldn't see anything which she considered appalling about the people in the movie. below is a direct quote from jesus camp. what are your thoughts about it?
"It's no wonder, with that kind of intense training and discipling, that those young people are ready to kill themselves for the cause of Islam. I wanna see young people who are as committed to the cause of Jesus Christ as the young people are to the cause of Islam. I wanna see them as radically laying down their lives for the Gospel as they are over in Pakistan and Israel and Palestine and all those different places, you know, because we have... excuse me, but we have the truth! " - becky fisher, camp leader
also, what were some of the more appalling parts of the documentary to you?

Been there done that...
"I wanna see young people who are as committed to the cause of Jesus Christ..."
They were called Cruisaders. Their task was to go and get killed liberating the Holy Land from the muslims, while their Kings used the wars as a distraction from the problems at home.
It it were not for the fact that people are (on purpose?) kept ignorant of their own cultural ancestry, this would be yawning matter at best.

The paragraph you quoted was indeed one of the scariest parts of the movie. Another one that got to me was the discussion with the pretty little girl who described missionary training someone in her family had attended. She said they were jumping up and down shouting "Martyr! Martyr! Martyr!" Then in a perfectly calm voice, she said "It was cool."
Another thing that seriously bothered me was when the kids dressed up in camouflage and danced around with sticks (obviously representing weapons) to prepare themselves in much the same way as was shown of Muslim children in "Obsession, the Movie." In fact, there were so many parallels with that movie that I was getting seriously spooked watching it.
Another scary part was when they were encouraged to repent and get all emotional, but most of them couldn't find anything in their young lives to repent except being too shy to do active proselytizing in their schools. I would have said too polite, myself.
And then there was the kid who was being home schooled by his mother, who blithely recited the LIES she had told him about global warming and evolution and I don't remember what else. How is that kid going to be prepared for any real university? He'll probably only get admitted to a fundamentalist college or "bible college," and be marginalized all his life.

I didn't see "Jesus Camp" so I cannot comment on it. But if your quote is accurate, then I could not agree more. It speaks of commitment and striving towards a goal. The Church in the West is nearly apathetic when it comes to commitment, western culture is "all about me," and the attitude had infiltrated the church, even to the way rituals and services are conducted.
Jesus gave us eternity by dying for us. He merely asks that we allow Him to live through us.

I have pages of stupid, intolerant remarks by Atheists..does that prove anything, other than the fact that people on ALL sides can have some hostile feelings? What is your point. Mine is the fact that if people don't change their basic psychological make up, we will slaughter each other. There is no room for hate, intolerance and prejudices anymore!

I am a Christian and I can somewhat see her point, although I believe she has not made it correctly. If her point is that we, as Christians, should be willing to lay down our lives for our beliefs, then I agree. By this, I mean that if someone is telling you convert/denounce or die, then we should choose death. On that same note, if her point is that we should be willing to kill others for our faith, then she is deeply misguided and she should hit her knees to the floor and ask for God to forgive her for turning His teachings of love and kindness to teachings of hate and anger.

Please call the asylum and let them we know we found their missing inmate.
The whole damn thing was appalling! Might as well call it Death Camp, because that is what they are teaching their children. I guess these are the type of morals they want in our schools? The guns won't be gone, but everyone will be praying to Jesus (to get rid of the crazy assholes he has following him).

I agree. If someone makes fun of Islams Prophet, they take the streets and riot but we let everyone walk all over our Christ.
I wish we were as strong as Islam.

Sounds like a death camp to me. I would say God will have to sort out the fruits from the religious nuts and the rest of us simply have to decide for ourselves.
