My TV has recently been having a problem with the picture, for example, the faces on the screen have an oblonged look, the peoples foreheads look real large and oblong.
Does anyone know what the problem might be and more importantly how much would it cost to have something like this serviced. The TV is a standard CRT 32" Toshiba, not a LCD or Plasma.

Thanks

I actually just repaired my 31" Toshiba with a similar problem. It was a bad capacitor (1uF) in the vertical circuit. There are a couple around the output circuit that will give trouble. I can't give you a price because I fixed it myself, however I'd guess somewhere in the $50-$75 range.

I guess vertical linearity is out. It might be just dry joint or some component has defective. It's hard to estimte the cost if you want to get it repaired. Try free checking TV servive in newspaper.

Sounds like one of the lenses is out of alignment. I would be cheaper to replace the TV. In spring of 2009 all TV signals will be in HD (Read about it in the link below). So it would be your best bet to upgrade your TV now rather than lose the money on fixing it.
