Hi, I am 17 years old. Here are the facts, I belive that someone created this earth but do not have enough proof to just say, "OH, GOD DID!" I don't get how most people can just belive something they are told, that they or anyone else wasn't even around to witness? Now, most people are thinking "That is what faith is!" But I am more of a "Believe it when I see it person". My question to all of you guys, is What relgion is aimed toward what I am thinking. I was Cathloic and I want to be a different relgion because I don't belive all of this bull**** coming from everyones mouth. I want to either hear it from God himself or belive in a religion based on fact. Please help, thanks!

Here is a good guide for examining/evaluating religions:

"Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it.
Do not believe in anything simply because it is spoken and rumored by many.
Do not believe in anything simply because it is found written in your religious books.
Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders.
Do not believe in traditions because they have been handed down for many generations.
But after observation and analysis, when you find that anything agrees with reason and is conducive to the good and benefit of one and all, then accept it and live up to it."

-Buddha

"Telling a non-Christian that she's going to "burn in hell" is like calling offsides on the *spectators* at a football game"

What are you really looking for?

Belief based on reason, observation, and experimentation is science.

Belief without the requirement of reason or observable, testable facts is faith. Every religion I know of is based on faith.

You say you believe that "someone" created the Earth. Is there something observable and testable about the Earth's makeup that leads you to conclude it was created by a "someone"?

If it's just a "feeling" you have, or a "belief", then you already have faith, and you've answered your own question. You are a Deist, like Thomas Jefferson. I'm sure if you look online you can find some Deist sects to consider.

Who are you to demand a personal visit from God? You are a flea speck in the annals of time. I have leather belts older than you! I congratulate you for not believing just because you were told, wanting some facts instead.

Since only the Creator and angelic workers were around until after most of the creative work was done, you have to look elsewhere.

Look to the Bible, especially prophecy. Everyone comes to pass just as foretold. Sometimes they are hundreds of years between prophecy and fulfillment. My favorite is Jesus' prophecy of the destruction of the temple in Jerusalem. We know he died in 33CE. It was fulfilled in 68-70CE which is 35 years difference.

There was no real clue that "not a stone upon a stone would be left". Jews were always rebellious towards Romans. The additional fact of Jesus providing a way out for those listening and observing what Jesus said. "When you see the disgusting thing in the temple, flee to the mountains" without delay.

When the Roman army showed up in 68CE, they drove the Jews all the way back to the temple courtyard. Then for reasons no one has found out to this day, the Romans withdrew. Faithful Christians remembered Jesus' words and got out of Dodge as fast as possible. They escaped to the mountains. There was a two week period until the Romans returned just as unexpectedly. They cut off any escape. Then they slaughtered every Jew they found.

Additionally, the route to those mountains of safety had bandits. Those following Jesus' words and left without packing, were not bothered by bandits as it was known they had nothing to steal. Those that waited to pack, in spite of Jesus' warning, the bandits killed. The Romans destroyed everything including the temple to demoralize the enemy.

Jesus might have known the Romans would come eventually, but there is no way for him to know how to save the lives of the faithful. All the Bible's prophecies are like that. Some are about the life of Jesus, hundreds of years before, including where he would be born and what lineage he would be born into.

Prophecy is only one of the ways we know the God of the Bible is real.

Hey, you are right in wanting something from God for yourself and not just go along with what someone else says.

But God reveals Himself to us as we humble ourselves, as we pray, as we seek Him, as we give up our own ideas and opinions.

Forget about finding God through facts and "proof". He will never reveal Himself to a man who demands absolute proof.

He is found through faith and humility. Ain't no other way.

Of course He could - if He wanted - send a great blazing angel into your room and strike you with blindness.... but He usually doesn't do that.....He wants each of us to humble ourselves, confess our sins, and reach out to Him by faith.

And if you say "Well, I MUST have proof!" - that is just a very good example of the pride and stubbornness of man's heart. And God doesn't deal very kindly with the proud...

god bless

There are no religions that are based on facts.

Just beleive in whatever you feel. You dont really need a label or someone to follow.

I think you may want to look up agnostic though.

That leaves you with the path of experience...which is mysticism (usually).

Or if you just want raw practicality - Buddhism.

Try taking the test here to see what religion fits you best...

use your good head, (Obvious, since you can write and spell!) to study every religion you can get books about.... take classes in religion.... and hold your own belief until you can put all that you've learned into the context of your life.... then choose.... or, as some of us have found, the right one will chose YOU..... its possible that you won't need to 'believe in a religion' at all, after all.... but that will be what you are searching for during your study....
