If it was an email from the government of Canada it woulf be @XXXXXX.gc.ca not yahoo or what ever that is.

It is fishy. Any email from Canada ends by xxxx.ca why would someone working for immigration have a yahoo e-mail unless it's private, but if it's in regard to any Immigration matter, it should not come from a private email. It sounds like a scam.

It's a scam. This scam has been going on for years. It involves fake jobs at a hotel. They are going to tell you to send money to process the visa.
