Snakes in mythology also represent fertility and female divinity. With no other context, I can see this as a symbol of female energy bring life to a desolate, ruined place.

It would help to know your attitude about snakes and what's happening in your dad's life and your own life. Is one or both of you in a desolate place?

snakes often resemble death or fear. and considering it was in a burnt house maybe you fear fire or dying in a fire...er-I don't know :)
