Can a believer please tell me if God speaks to us through our dreams? And if so, how do we know it's God and not our imaginations? And, why would God chose this particular time to communicate this particular topic with me? (Please do not answer this question if you're an atheist.)

"God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son..." (Hebrews 1:1-2)

Notice in times past, God spoke to the prophets in various ways. Today, He speaks through his Son.

How did Jesus establish that the word was to be spread? In the Great Commission, he told the Apostles "Go teach..." (Matthew 28:18-20, Mark 16:15)!

Paul told Timothy to teach faithful men who in turn would teach others also. (2 Timothy 2:2) This is how God established for His message to be spread.

The apostles still teach today through the inspired Scriptures! "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work." (2 Timothy 3:16-17)

Since using the Scriptures in this way, the man of God can be "complete, thouroughly equipped...", we need nothing else. God has communicated what we need to know to serve Him through the Bible!

The dangers of hearing other things through dreams are many!

1. This would make God a respecter of persons. Why would he show one person something that he has not revealed to all.

2. There is no way to know if the voice you “hear” is actually God’s. 2 Corinthians 11:14 says, “Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.” When you have this dream, how do you know it is God and not Satan in disguise?

3. One person may say “God told me this is true”, while another may say, “God told me that is not true”. There is no objective standard to determine what is true!

In the Bible, however, there is such a standard! Those in Acts 17:11 were called “noble” because they received the word that the apostle Paul preached eagerly, and they “searched the Scriptures daily” to see if it was true!

The Scriptures were a standard by which truth could be determined! Dreams offer no such standard!

God has spoken through the Bible! That is all we need.

Yes, I have had some dreams that I was sure were
spiritual and some than were probably from God
because of what they communicated that was comforting
and came true. Sometimes time will be the tell on those.
If they line up with other things (confirmations) that is
another way to tell! There is a good principle about
receiving three confirmations that is demonstrated
in the word.

The Bible says God communicates through many different ways, dreams have been mentioned often. I would pay close attention to what you think God told you. If you are smart you will listen and do what he said. God never tells us to do bad things.

God decides the time to communicate with you. You wait on him, not the reverse.

Our minds are usually too full to listen to the still small voice so He catches up in our down time. You need to ask the relevance of the dream subject matter first, if it is relevant to you or someone you know then you pray about it if in doubt. The worst that could happen is that it does not come true.... or maybe not... depending , either way take heed but don't get bogged down coz you do get confirmation in your waking life if it is from God.

There are many mentions in the bible of god using dreams to communicate, our inner spirit is and always has been connected to the creator from which we came, its while in the dream state that our spirit connects our physical body to the spiritual. As for this topic at this time, ..ask if it answers something that has troubles you in away the that gives you joy.

The lord can speak to you through anything and everything it's different for most people. When the lord feels you are ready or that the timing is right to revile something to you then take heed because something is about to happen. When you have a dream and you think it's of God, Pray pray and pray some more, he wants you to talk to him about it so go for it don't be scared, obviously he's got something for you, take it go for it!!

God Bless

To answer your question directly...Yes He does.
Is every dream from God? No.
The best answer to a dream or any word of God is prayer and it's even better if you can have someone who is closely walking with God, pray with you. I hope this helps.

God does speak to us through dreams - but, yes, it can only be our active imaginations, too.

If you believe a message has been communicated to you by God, pray about it. Ask God to confirm it to you. And read the bible. read read read. Does the dream line up with scripture? If not, forget it.

But go slow - don't quit your job and move to the top of the Arctic circle just because you dreamed of dancing with polar bears....

But I am absolutely convinced that God has spoken to me clearly many times in dreams.

email me if you wish to discuss more.

god bless

It is possible. How to know is if the dream comes nightly for several days and never changes. Also, you will feel that there is a message in the dream. Recurring dreams that seem to have no meaning at all may hold other clues to your mental state (like feeling inadaquate).

While it IS possible, to follow a dream believing it to be from God is troublesome. It may well be your own imagination.
Test it against scripture. Does it at ANY point contradict any of the doctrines, principles, mandates, etc., of the known will of God as He has revealed in the Bible? If it does, I would seriously question it.
