if there is no embassy near by, a consulate may be able to help you. Depending how long you are there, you may be able to apply for a new passport. If you decide to do this you must first report the passport lost or stolen to the local police and get a copy of the report to send with your application.
Hopefully this is something you will never need to know.

Contact your embassy and remember to always carry a photocopy of your ID (passport included) in a separate place.
You can't fly without documentation.

You have to go to your countries Embassy...but you do need some sort of ID so they know what country you are from

eire & uk have a "passport loose zone" so technically no. That reported, it relies upon on the airline - for Ryanair, definite - you will want a passport. For others, no longer unavoidably. examine the airline's web site.
