Have you ever taken one? If so, what kind of questions do they ask? I'm waiting to have mine scheduled for a job.....it's a "civilian" position.....

I have taken at least 10 polygraphs, but for law enforcement jobs. So as far a civilian I am not sure what they ask, but just be honest and stick with your story. Remember this is just a machine and CAN NOT tell when you are lying, it is just an interpretation of what response your body has by the operator. So at the end they will ask you if you are ok with everything and is there anything you want to change, tell them NO---no matter what, do not second guess yourself...they are trying to get you to recend your position and trying to make you look like a liar. Just be honest....once they get you all hooked up it is very stressfull and you will be very nervous. Just try to relax and just answer the questions as quickly as possible calmly with yes or no answers. Dont sit there and think about the question too long....

My husband took one. They asked simple questions like name, birth date etc to get a base line and also asked him about drugs, stealing, dishonesty and other criminal activity. He too was a civilian employee but I guess they wanted to make sure that there weren't other problems that didn't show up on a police record check. He ended up hating the job because it was so regimented and they were constantly looking over peoples' shoulders. Guess he should have gotten a hint when they wanted him to take the polygraph before they hired him.
