Since I've seen questions asking for horror stories, I figured I'd ask for positive ones.
Did you take advantage of the "Bridal Rewards" program, what did you think? and if you dealt with a store in NJ or PA, could you mention the town the store was in (I'm in that area).
I dropped into one last night and picked up the books of dresses and was happy with what I saw and it looks like their dresses are comparably priced to what I've seen online that I like.

I totally understand that people have had bad experiences at David's Bridal. My primary interest is in trying on dresses similar to ones I've found online (I've not found those in stores to try on the exact dress).

We were on a budget wedding, but we didnt want to scimp in dresses and tuxes. I was very PLEASED with Davids bridal and their rewards program. Not only did I get my dress at a great sale price, as well as dresses for my girls that were on sale. But we purchased the whole order together, and got additional monies off! With that purchase, my hubandgot free tux rental and all the guys got 20 bucks off their tuxes as well. We saved a ton of money, and the ladies there were so helpful. I would recommend Davids to everyone, they were great!

I guess the store here is run under good management or something, because my experience was great. I made an appointment for a Wednesday night about a month ago. When I arrived, I was greeted and they asked me to fill out a paper and then asked me questions about my wedding, where it was, informal/formal, etc. After that, they introduced me to my consultant, who then helped me pick a few pairs of shoes to try the dresses on with. She then gave me a longline bra to use with the dresses, and then picked out a bunch of dresses that I had circled in the catalog as well as a few others that she thought I'd like. My consultant was fantastic. Every dress she picked out fit me, was exactly what I had told her, and she even pulled out matching jewelery, veils and tiaras for EVERY dress. She was there next to me the whole time I was there. All of the other associates in David's Bridal would walk over and compliment me, ask me if I needed any water, made sure I had all the help I needed. In the end, I spent almost 3 hours trying on dresses and found my dress, tiara, veil, shoes, and bra. My maid of honor also got her dress and shoes. I'm glad I shopped at David's Bridal, because they treated me very well. I'm sorry everyone else had such horrible experiences. I also live in a nicer area of California, so maybe that also had something to do with it?

I had a good experience picking out my dress. The sales lady was very friendly. I didn't feel pressured and did most of the searching on my own. My sister was there to help me as well. I'm an independent person and don't like people hanging around making me feel pressured or rushed, so I felt comfortable there. She was pretty hands off and helped me when I asked.

If you're the kind of person that needs a lot of guidance and assistance, then I wouldn't go there. It's a busy store, but if you like to do things on your own I'd suggest it.

I didn't end up going with the bridesmaid dresses there because they simply didn't have the style I was looking for. And in terms of alterations, I plan to take my dress to a local shop to get it hemmed. I've heard David's Bridal's alterations were overpriced and chancy at best.

I do not know why there are so many horror stories about David's Bridal. I had absolutely wonderful experiences from all of the David's bridals that I went to. I got my dress from there and my bridesmaids dresses from there. All of the salesgirls were wonderful and so helpful. Also they coordinate with Afterhours formal wear, so the guys matched the girls perfectly. I went to other bridal shops (about 10 I believe) and I had my best experience at Davids.

I don't care what everyone else says. I had a fine experience at Davids. Originally, I went there on a lark, simply because I know they let you take photos in the gowns...and I'd been to 3 other boutiques that were adamant about not allowing cameras. But the stylist was wonderful. She helped me into I'd say 15 gowns in one day...Sure, David's doesn't give you the same attention that the little boutiques do, but the price and convenience is second to none. The dress I found is beautiful, and everything I want. Not to mention, it's good for my bridesmaids, since their dresses are so innexpensive and they get a discount because of my dress purchase...that, and they are sister/brother corporations with After Hours, which is where my fiance and his guys are getting their tuxes-again, discounted due to my dress purchase.

The dress itself is very well-made, and they come in a great range of sizes, so you should be able to find one that will fit with little alteration.

I went to a David's Bridal on Long Island and I had a positive experience. I didn't buy my dress there, I found one a bridal shop that I liked better. But they do have beautiful dresses, no one will know the difference.

My experiences were mixed.

My first trip to the store, I had the WORST salesgirl. She was awful. She complained about how busy it was, she didn't want to be there, etc. After that visit, I called and talked to the store manager. I told her I was not happy with that girl and that if we were going to buy anything, I didn't want that girl getting credit simply because she was assigned to us that day. The manager apologized and set us up with someone completely different. The new woman was MUCH MUCH better. She was fun to work with, patient, nice, etc.

For the bridesmaids dresses, they all arrived well ahead of schedule. They were promised by July and arrived in MAY.

I changed my mind about my dress. I was going to use one that I already had, but I changed my mind at the last minute. In May, I purchased my dress. THey said it would arrive by August 1st. My wedding was August 11th. I was very nervous. My dress arrive JUNE 1st.

Those were at the store in Erie, PA

But I live in Ohio. So I brought my dress to a store here for alterations. I had already bought a crinoline for my original dress... a very FULL crinoline. It looked a little too big for the dress I had, so I asked to exchange, they said no. Weeks later when I went to pick up the dress, I tried it on and the crinoline looked awful. It just didn't work with the dress. A salesgirl saw me and thought the same thing, so she went and talked to a manager. She agreed to let me exchange for the less full slip. The downside was that now I needed higher heels because it effected the length and I didn't have time to have it taken up anymore.

So my experience wasn't perfect, but they did come through in the end.

I bought my wedding dress there and they did a great job of getting it there on time and altering it to fit perfectly. But, I also bought some wedding shoes there that they would not let me return or exchange. I had the receipt, never wore them and it was before the wedding. While I was ordering the dress I didnt look to see that there was a NO RETURN OR EXCHANGE policy. I hate that and I swore I would never order or buy anything from them ever again. I have been in 2 weddings since then and have not gotten the dresses there for myself or my daughter.
Oh, and i hated that you couldnt just go in and look and try things on, you had to make an appt but everyone has their rules, right?
I loved my wedding dress and the price I paid was awesome, just don’t buy any of the extra stuff and no you cant return and you will be golden!
Congrats on the wedding!!!

I got my dress at Davids Bridal and with alternations because my dress was discontinued I only paid $417 dollars but that was 14 years ago. My sister got her gown at davids and I got my matron of honor gown at Davids but I had the alterations done by a friend. They do have a lot of selection and yes they do have dressed one line but you should try it on first to see what size is good for you.

I have two good friends who each had very good experiences buying wedding dresses from David's. I went there to look for my dress as well. Although I ultimately found my dress somewhere else, I was pleased with the service I received at David's while trying on dresses. My sales person was very nice and polite and didn't try to talk me into buying something I didn't want.

I think that your experience will vary widely from store to store. go check it out. If you don't like it, go somewhere else.
