I dont even know some of my grandmas relatives and I see them every year. I am good with close family but I cant go that far back.

ABOUT 1000-1800 yrs before now (2007)

On my Mothers side we are traced back to the point where the US government started tracking Native American tribes. On my Fathers side we can go as far back as 1693 in Finland.

in one case, we have been able to go back as far as the 1500's. my sister spent 20+ yrs doing our family tree.

I only know about the parents of my grandparents because they told me about them. Before that I don't know and as my parents also don't know it, I wouldn't have the faintest idea of who to ask or where to start looking for more information.
My family originates from china, but I was born in singapore.

1683 on one line but it would have been 2 generations further back if it were not for an error made over 300 years ago.

On my Mom's side we can go back 4 generations.
On Dad's side it is strange; we can't find anything behind his Dad (my Grandfather).
