Lots of clear liquids. Milk is not recommended as it only thickens the mucus and does not help if he is congested. Chicken soup of any sort is always good.
A cold compress on the forehead always feels good when running a fever and one behind the neck feels good too. A bath sometimes makes a child feel more comfortable.
Vicks Vaporub was always used in our home for colds and aside from clearing our nasal passages it just felt good to have Mom rub it on when we didn't feel good.
Hope this helps.

There's always herbs, home spun cures. I had a friend who would be given a small amount of wild turkey whenever they started getting sick (and again when they would have really bad cramps) it always worked.
Coughing or sore throat = warmed lemonade with honey
Low grade fever = damp cloth on the forehead
I don't know about the other two. If a nose is clogged I know anything with steam works.

Motrin or Tylenol will help with the aches and the fever. If they are older than a toddler mix honey and lemon juice together for the cough. Give a teaspoon frequently. It will soothe their throat too.
This whole stop giving cold medicine to kids is just peachy, huh? :(

You can usually buy paediatric versions of medicines.
I used to buy Vapour rub for my youngsters' chests. You can also buy stuff to add to the bath. Karvol drops onto the pillow or blanket at night will help stuffy noses.
You can buy cough medicines for children too.
Children can be given Paracetamol and Ibuprofen (child versions) which will relieve pain and fever.
Don't let them overheat and make sure there's plenty of ventilation in the room - don't let it get stuffy.
There's plenty you can do.......you just have to be imaginative.
Get yourself off to the chemists and ask what's available. As long as you're careful with the dosages and note down the times when you give each dose, medicines are perfectly safe to give to young children.

as much as us mothers do anything we can to get our children better, there's nothing you can do.. even doctors will say so. colds are viral, so medications won't cure it. if it was some kind of infection, that means it's bacterial and you can treat that with antibiotics. all that to say, you can do what you can to treat the symptoms, but cold medicines won't "make him better". doctors will even say that it's hard for us to watch them deal with the crud, but colds usually last 10 days and you just have to ride it out. make sure he's getting plenty of water, lay off milk if you can b/c sometimes that makes mucus worse (sugary stuff too, like koolaid), and make him rest as much as possible. just keep an eye on the fever and make sure it doesn't rise... regular children's tylenol or motrin will help w/ the fever if it gets worse (only cold medicines were recalled, not the regular stuff). i hope he gets better soon!

Firsty, the indicators virtually surely WILL end. it relatively is totally probably that they seem to be a results of you combating taking your drugs, and as quickly as you initiate returned they are going to gradually ease. you is genuinely no longer caught with this for an prolonged volume of time, as citalopram generally acts rather immediately on the physique in comparison with different drugs (even though it relatively is impossible to assert precisely how long it is going to take, because it differs for various human beings). although, I *strongly* agree which you may see your everyday practitioner as quickly as obtainable to communicate approximately this. medical doctors are knowledgeable in helping human beings to get the dosage of their drugs as precisely authentic as obtainable, and helping to administration any risky area-outcomes which you may journey, the two from combating by surprise or from re-commencing. she or he would be in a position to even have the skill to grant you some greater advantageous short-term help at the same time as the area-outcomes cool down. i'm sorry to pay attention you're no longer feeling properly, and that i'm hoping you get greater acceptable quickly.

They have children's cold medicines such as children's Tylenol etc. Just make sure you don't give them more then the recommended dose. Dosage is listed by weight and age on the bottle.
If you have any concerns or questions call the doctor for advice.
