The problem was that it was on a state building and the flag over a state building indicates who it belongs to, as the flag of a foreign embassy will be that foreign country's flag.
However, the flag of Mexico is the flag of Mexico, and not an 'illegal immigrant's flag' - that I agree with.
I expect us to respect the flag of other countries just as I expect them to respect ours.
--
Edit, there have been different instances. Over our flag is a symbol of dominance, and with ours upside down there is no question the flyer intended it that way. The one on a school a couple years back combined the problems, over ours, ours upside down (actually this means 'distress') and on a state building. Three strikes. I don't think it should be against the law, but I certainly would vote against legalizing anyone who did such a thing.

There is no such thing as an illegal immigrant flag. I would have to say that the flag of any country other than American flown by an illegal alien in this country would be an illegal immigrant flag.
First, there are laws in regard to flying the flag. It is against the law to fly the US flag under the flag of any nation. Study American history and you will understand why the Vietnam Vet was so outraged. The American flag is a symbol of our country and all it stands for. This guy fought for our country and saw his comrades die in front of him and could have died himself. If you want to study American History I suggest "A Patriot's History Of The United States" by Larry Schweikart and Michael Allen. For laws regarding the proper way to display and care for the American Flag see

Maybe he should not have called it an illegal flag, but he had every right to take the Mexican flag down.
He had a problem with it because it was flying OVER the American flag. Would I be able to go to Mexico and fly Old Glory above the Mexican flag???? No way!!!!!

must say it was a really strange thing to tear down a flag. do Americans not realize that a flag should never touch the ground. seen so many drag and pull lots of different flags around about them going to matches and so on. am i old fashioned are something. think its is wrong also to have underwear with a nations flag. why they do that. don't they know that in ancient times what the victors would do with a flag would be use the losing city states flag as nappies. many a child in history was given a nappy of part of a losing city states flag. my own great great grandfather had the privilege of using a flag from Versailles as his nappy.

I would never think of going to Mexico or any other country and placing an American flag above the flag of that country. I think there are Mexicans here in the US illegally who are getting a lot of bad advise from extremists and others who are only politically motivated. Raza and some of the socialist mouth peices who defend and illegal immigrants "rights" in America are doing their best to fan the flames of hatred. To normal Americans it is just making us all angry enough to push back. There are more Americans who believe in our right to seal our borders then them so they have miscalculated our resolve.

a million) you won't be able to generalize that each and every individual unlawful immigrants are criminals. it really is discriminatory, ignorant and easily unfaithful. 2) i trust that unlawful immigrants are protesting the potential for deportation. i trust the reason being because their chance to artwork contained in the united states is a way of survival. human beings instinctively do what they ought to do to live to inform the tale. thus, the individuals who come the following might want to no longer discover artwork of their living house usa so that they arrive the following. 3) Europeans ("the white guy") invaded the Americas 1000's of years in the past, raped and killed the indigenous peoples and claimed the land for his or her very personal. present day immigrants aren't any more so grasping or brutal. they in basic terms opt for to stay. Why do such an excellent style of white human beings opt for to close the door to the US? that is a double-time-honored in case your ancestors were immigrants.

I would think that your last option is the correct one (at least in my mind). It has little to do with "power", but It is a sign of distinct disrespect to the American flag. This is our sovereign country and many Americans fought and died to defend what that flag represents. So for American citizens , at least those who are proud of their citizenship, to see some foreign flag flying above OUR flag on our soil, is insulting and disrespectful and likely was MEANT to be such.
If they do not want to generate an impassioned response....then don't do things that are disrespectful and inflammatory.

Apostrophe.
Illegal immigrant's flag. It's because the flag belonged to an allegedly illegal immigrant (alien). If the illegal alien had a pot-belly pig, it would be an illegal immigrant's pot-belly pig. I think.
To the blurb above, the term "undocumented Immigrant" is like the term, unpainted Van Gogh. If he didn't paint it, it isn't a Van Gogh.
