A warrant will be issued for your arrest and this will hang over your head. In this day and age of technology, you cannot just move to another state. It will catch up with you, the question is whether you want to do the time now and get it over with or wait until later. There probably will be no new charges but there may be a charge of unlawful flight or something similar. This seems unlikely.

Check into alternative sentencing. Do you need drug or alcohol rehab? You may be able to do some of your time in a hospital. If you successfully complete that, maybe you can do some time in a work release center.

KC V-I don't think you can be charged with escape unless you are in custody. At least not in my state.

I don't think you'll be facing serious jail time on two misdemeanors if you don't return to jail. Most jails are so overcrowded they can't keep track of the prisoners that they do have.

However, think carefully. If you don't return to jail as ordered, the warrant for your arrest that the judge will probably issue, will make it a felony fleeing if you cross state lines in your attempt to leave. And you will give up your bail.

Good luck to you.

1. Contempt of Court (Additional jail time)
2. Escape (Additional jail time)
3. Bonding agent comes for you and you get returned to jail.

I would suggest you consider this before running...

Too often I've arrested those with outstanding warrants with their response being how they should have just taken care of things.

More specifically, they all wished they hadn't tried to run away to gain momentary freedom versus getting the issue handled properly without having to continuously look over their shoulder wondering if they were being followed.

You know what you SHOULD do....now be an adult and handle business!

Misdemeanors will be 2 years suspended maybe. What 30 days in jail if it is a hillbilly town with tons of jail space, and the judge is a "good ole' boy". Otherwise it's not to big a deal unless it's a felony.
