Donuts are made with a combination of hygdrenated vegatable/ coconut/palm/ kernal palm oil and lard, then the same gross oil combination is melted for deep frying the donuts, then that same gross oil combination is added into the donuts topping used to glaze and/or top the donuts.
The idea of eating hygdrenated oil and/or lard with spoon is disgusting, right? So eating donuts from donut shops is no different.

I didn't say views should be the law, I was just saying the truth that they are disgusting, and unhealthy.
You watch the movies Fast Food Nation and SuperSize Me and you will loose your appetite to eat that junk.

In my opinion you are exactly right. It is like eating grease cooked in grease. A better alternative is bagels. They do have a little fat in them, but they are boiled and then baked. If you crave sweets like donuts, some bagel shops make chocolate chip bagels. Or make them yourself. Go to foodnetwork.com or thatsmyhome.com

Then don't eat them! They're the same as all "fast" food. A little once in a while is fine...eating it every day is unhealthy.

The donuts I make certainly aren't made with hygdrenated vegatable/ coconut/palm/ kernal palm oil and lard! But, I wouldn't even eat those every day.

Self control is the key to good eating habits. NOT banning all "fast" food.

What band sang that song: "Affirmations" "I believe that junk food tastes good cause its bad for you" or something like that. Such a pity. I have a donut about once every 3 months. You have slightly put me off them. Hot jam donuts are my favourite they don't put the lard on the top I dont think - only loads of sugar. But Yes eating donuts is disgusting but if it is a favourite just have one every once in a while. What excludes a donut from the category of fast food though? I thought a donut was fast food also.

yes indeed there not very healthy your correct but I'm sure most of what all of us eat isn't either, people above are right (moderation) If we took all of this (non-healthy business) to literally I cant imagine what our culture's would begin to look like: In fact I just read an article regarding fruit& veggies,,It was about the bug repellant the farmers spray on them- how it's waterproof, so therefore even when we rinse it, it does'nt come off so were eating pestisides even when we think were eating healthy we may not be

Little girl, if you don't like them don't eat them.

You can make doughnuts out of a number of different flours, with our without egg, and in trans-fat free oil. Hell, I saw Alton Brown do it last night.

Glaze is made out of: vanilla extract, milk, and confectioner's sugar. THAT'S IT.

You obviously are on a rant about something. It'd help your cause, though, to get a fact or two straight.

You sound like one of those perpetually-unhappy lefty vegetarian kids who wants everyone else to be miserable, too. I feel sorry for you.

EDIT: Wow, posted it twice? Geez...

As with anything you eat, moderation is the key. You have to treat yourself once in a while and if that treat is a donut, then you have to cut back elsewhere.

If you don't like them, don't eat them.

But don't think for a minute that your personal likes and dislikes should have the force of law. That would put you on par with most bigots.

Yes they are full of junk, but a little bit of junk once In a while is not gonna kill you, if you deny yourself a little treat once in a while then you'll only want it more.
