My father broke his ankle in 3 places last fall and had to have screws to repair it. It will still bother him if hes on it for long periods of time. Hes almost 60 and I think hes got arthritis in it now. He is a carpenter by trade and has to be on his feet everyday. Does anyone know if infered heat will help him get some relief? Or any other suggestions? He does take meds for his heart and for cholesterol too. So yes, hes already on asprin.

Many things can help. First make sure he has good shoes or boots that will support his arches, feet. He might find out he now has one leg longer than the other so might need orthotics. Hot pack or cold pack will help, depending on if he prefers hot or cold. He needs to exercise the ankle, which means taking it through all degrees of movement everyday, the longer he stands on it the easier it is to weaken the muscles and then stiffen up. Infrared I find help from for my Arthritis which is Rheumatoid. Unfortunately at his age and with this break it will be hard to bring the ankle back to where it was before he broke it, but simple things can make a big difference.
