My two five month old cats have got flea's, how is this possible if they have never been outside?

It's a complete myth that indoor cats cannot get fleas.

Think about it. Fleas have LEGS they can just walk (well, jump) in to houses - other bugs don't have a problem do they? Fleas can travel in on people's clothes or shoes, but they can stroll in quite easily themselves, even just through any cracks. Fleas are attracted to body heat, vibration caused my movement, and carbon dioxide (that you breath out) - they use it to detect a meal. Flea eggs are even stimulated to hatch when these things are present, and they can lay dormant for as long as necessary.

So, you need to flea treat your cats because right now, as you've discovered, they're basically a magnet for the fleas that are outside. Get a treatment from a vets, like Frontline, and stay far away from the rubbish flea treatments they sell in pet stores - they don't work!

Hi,
flea eggs can lay dormant in carpets or furniture for quite some time and are only activated as it were when a cat comes around. So if you have recently bourght a second hand peice of furniture etc may have caused it.
Other wise is it possible that a another cat could have got into the house without you knowing.

You. And via anyone who walks in. They search for fur. Once they find a host they multiply. Several good answers here. Vet Nurse good contact.
How are the little cuties? Outside yet? I was amazed to hear the answers you got. Sadly, things do happen and well, that's nature & just life in general. You are right, if allowed, let them out ! That or they will go out on their own. Bad experiences &
many of us want to protect them. But?
Also :just give them a nice bath or two. Watch labels for age requirements on flea shampoos. Don't keep the water running. Just dunk and rinse, rushing water may put in fear you can never remove. Lots of love and towel dry. Monthly flea stuff is great.ALSO treat your whole area, including doors & outside places. Make sure it's kitty approved.
Have a great time. You sound like a dedicated Mom. Aloha.

Well, it's possible you could bring them in on your clothes, or if they've ever been to the vet or outside at ALL they could possibly get them there - all it takes is a couple.
I'd suggest some sort of Advantage or Frontline (I personally prefer Advantage). It's pretty expensive, but it's worth it to not have fleas all over your house.
Good luck!

they are carried by technique of squirrels, fleas can leap off them and hitch a journey interior on your pants cuffs or shoes, OR are available in via the window monitors, they could get via those extremely. A flea drop dose of benefit, Frontline or Revolution seems after them. That'll run you $12 or so.

either they were brought in by someone or somthing or they came in by themselves. fleas wait in a blade of grass or a branch with fore legs stretched and will jump on ANYTHING that has body warnth. one could have jumped on your shoe or pants or sox or someone that came into your home. fleas can come into the house under the walls or thru the front door. fleas tend to like animals over humans but will suck your blood just as ez.

Fleas can live in the grass, and can jump on people and be brought inside.
You can spray your yard and inside the house to kill and prevent fleas.
