I know you don't believe in either yourselfs, but if you have studied various religions would you call Polytheism or Monotheism more credible?
Or is just a case of "Same meat different gravy"?

Both are equally credible. It is important to remember that human myths seem to form to promote locally useful ideas. The problem with religion is that it is an acritical propagation of beliefs. Because it requires a different set of myths to support a polytheistic religion than a monotheistic religion, within the framework of either set, the other looks less credible. Christianity looks noncredible to most Hindus or Buddhists because it doesn't share the necessary underlying myths to support the ideas. Christianity or Islam look as incredible to Hindus as Hinduism looks to Christians or Muslims. If it were not so, then they would stop being Hindus, Muslims or Christians.

I find both to be equally incredible. I think all religions are, at their core, an attempt to explain things people don't understand. Whether your attributing all things to one god or many different things to many gods, none of it really makes sense when you start apply logic and science.
Before science had explained things like the solar system and the oceans, I can understand how people would attribute what they saw to Gods. How were the to understand invisible forces like gravity or understand the movements of the stars and planets without a telescope.
But as science explains more and more about the world and the universe, I'm finding it increasingly difficult to understand how people can cling to the notion of a god creating everything.

I'm not an atheist, but it seems to me that believing in one of something is a lot simpler than believing in lots of things. Occam's Razor, given two explainations for the same phenomenon the simplest one is probably true. So if you're going to go with a divine being as an explaination for something, I would think that believing in only one is more credible.

Most atheists are more respectful of polytheism than they know.
If you don't believe that gods are omniscient, omnipotent, omnibenevolent, cares about whether or not they are worshipped by mankind, omnipresent, creators of the universe, involved in the afterlife or particularly interested in mankind, and you believe that it is possible for another race to exist elsewhere in this near infinitite universe with a high enough degree of technology to appear to thwart natural laws, than you are in agreement with polytheists.

I'd have to say polytheism, since it would include Buddhism which is more a philosophy than religion.

Sorry I am laughing my *** off at the guy who confused polytheist with polygamy.
Ok that totally made my day.
Most atheist I have spoken to about it say that pantheism is probably the closest to credible divine that they would see.

depends on what is your definations of god .
if the defination of god is something or someone that create the universe etc , den even the big bang is in a sense , god too..
certain chinese believe goddess of mercy to be a 'god' , in a sense she can do stuff human cant .... but certainly no one think she create us..
so it really have to depends on ur defination of god
