Interesting stuff, jewviking. Do you think he really wants to restore Russia to it's so-called "Glory Days" of Communism, not for the sake of communism, but for his own wicked quest for ultimate power? Loved the insight on Queen Liz.

Putin is a leftover from the days of the USSR and the Kremlin.
Watch the news and see how he has handled crisis after crisis.... never with the best interests of the people in mind (think hostage crisis at Moscow theater where everyone, including hostages were gassed and many died... or think of the sub crisis where Putin turned down help while the men on the sub died)... think of the recent poisoning of one of Putin's top critics, Litvenko...
Putin is more and more showing his old Kremlin side.
If you've ever read ANYTHING by Aleksandr Solzhenitzen (I know I spelled it wrong), you wouldn't be surprised by Putin's actions... I know that I am not surprised, just saddened.

Ever since the first caveman first told a spooky tale to his children the image of a 'troll,' a 'gremlin,' a 'sprite' has been that a smaller than average creature usually thin with 'bug' eyes.. Such a soul is Putin. Small with a sly fox smile, urbane as any Bond Villain, and a resume suspiciously like that of George Bush Senior... Putin was once head of the KGB much as Bush Senior was head of the CIA.. Putin knows where the bodies are buried since he buried many of them...
As for Elizabeth, she mostly dislikes that fact that as a former KGB Chief, Putin knows all the dirt on the Royals and most likely fed the British Press tidbits during his tenure as Chief.....
The biggest 'problem' with Putin is the same 'problem' that America has with any strong charismatic 'smart' leader/ Putin is a Proud Russian Nationalist. Putin loves 'Russia.' Putin wants to restore Russia to World Class Status and that scares a lot of people...
